Disclaimer: I loved IT. I thought it was a thoughtful, creative approach that read like a love-letter to the source material. My only gripe is there are subplots in the book that made the story for me which have never been adapted for film; namely Patrick's refrigerator. Patrick, for me, was always the scariest aspect of the book as a whole. I know it's near impossible to include everything and I'm definitely nitpicking since it's one of my favourite books, but even a fraction of that storyline would, for me, have given the movie some 'unf' on the scare meter. I guess I was hoping for a scene in which Patrick always goes to this refrigerator, and it's never revealed exactly that to which he's returning. They did an awesome job of Pennywise erupting from the refrigerator in front of either Eddie or Bill, and I guess I wanted something like that in the movie. I also don't know how to feel about the shift in time from the 50s to the 80s, but I understand why they did that and I'm excited to know how they'll do something set in modern times for Chapter 2. What do you guys think? As a side note, everyone loves the Stranger Things kid but the guy who plays Eddie really stole the show for me. Great stuff.
