Manipulating thermostats on a combined fridge/freezer Homebrewing

I'll set up a new ferm chamber soon since the old one got destroyed. Because I am somewhat limited in space I'd like to keep everything as small as possible. I am brewing 5gal batches and ferment in a 30lt Speidel barrel. I'm bottling so I'll need a fridge for the bottled beer as well. At the moment I am thinking about buying something like this: http://ift.tt/2jbqz8a Since the combined fridge/freezer has the same power supply I can't use an inkbird I guess. So would it be possible to manipulate the freezer units thermostat to a range that enables me to ferment everything from lager to ale? What do think, any major downsides for this idea (except for the higher price compared to a regular freeze and fridge).

Edit: just realized I could have used the daily Q&A. Sorry.
