First time home buyer question...(continued) Too late to work a warranty into the deal after inspection? RealEstate

Thanks to everyone who posted suggestions on my last (and first ever) post. Great feedback all around.

Here's the link to the last post is anyone catches this post first: http://ift.tt/1T5Oooe

One commenter in particular touched on possibly including a Warranty in the deal. Although the term 'warranty' has been tossed around a few times in this process, it wasn't something i took very seriously. Normally i skip purchasing a warranty. Whether it be for a car, appliance, cellphone... pretty much anything. They usually end up being a wasted cost, but for $500 on a $300k house, this is still up for debate.

The house is 50+ years old, recently replaced roof, 18 y/o Furnace, 18 y/o central AC, 12 y/o refrigerator and dishwasher, 20 year old dryer. If it came down to it, i could live without the AC for a while as well as the dish washer and dryer. My main concern would be having the furnace go heading into our NE NY winters.

My question is, if after my inspection comes back and if there are concerns regarding age and possible lifespan of these items, is it too late to try to negotiate the warranty into the deal?

If it is, should i still move forward with a warranty purchase?

Thank you!
