For the past few weeks my 2-year old (!!!) GE refrigerator (model GTH17GBEFRWW) has intermittently been very noisy. Like a high-pitched whine. I've isolated the noise to the freezer, and after some researching have narrowed the source down to what I understand is the evaporator fan. Not sure if the fan or the motor is the culprit. I unplugged the fridge and jiggled the fan around a bit, making sure no wires or anything were touching it. No luck - issue remains. It's odd that at times the fan runs just fine, but it will occasionally make this terrible noise (sometimes once a day for 5 minutes, sometimes multiple times a day for 30 minutes at a time).
Video of the fan making the noise, then running fine: https://youtu.be/wX2G1LiYGko
I'm a complete novice to appliance repair so appreciate any thoughts on what to do! Should I simply replace the fan motor? Seems an easy enough job with this part, but don't want to wade into this recklessly: http://ift.tt/2qn7OjY
Thanks in advance!
