I just wanted to find love [Part 1] nosleep

My eyes jolted open when my phone buzzed and the screen illuminated right next to my face. I had fallen asleep again, my phone right next to my face on my bed, vibrate mode still on. It was hard to make it through the night anymore. I just wanted to sleep. But I knew I could not turn my sound off, I just couldn't. I swiped away all the notifications, quickly reading them, before dozing off again-

~4 months earlier...~

I threw my backpack onto the chair by the door. I removed my shoes and coat, placing my keys into the bowl by the door. Another day. Another Thursday to be exact. Another week. Another month. Another year.

I looked at my phone, checking to see if any of my non-existent friends had texted me during my drive home from school. Nothing. Just my lock screen staring back at me, and not a single unread notification.

I let out a sigh, making my way to the kitchen. I grabbed some food and sat on the stool at the breakfast bar, eating my snack.

"I didn't even hear you come in," Mom said cheerfully, putting some laundry into the adjacent laundry room.

"Yeah, hey Mom," I mumbled through bites of my sandwich. I got up to get some milk when I noticed a note on the refrigerator. It was a cream colored card no bigger than a postcard with glittery writing bearing "You're Invited to James and Catalina's Wedding" with some information about RSVP and dates underneath.

"Who's Catalina?" I inquired of my Mom as she walked into the kitchen, giving me a quick hug.

"Oh, that's your cousin James' fiance. Your Aunt Gloria dropped it by earlier today. Apparently they've only been together for a few months, but she said they are the most perfectly matched couple she has ever seen," Mom answered.

"I didn't even know James was dating anyone," I scratched my head trying to remember.

"Apparently they met online. Some dating app, I cannot remember what Gloria said, but it seems very suspicious to me. Good thing the wedding isn't for awhile, I'm sure they'll be calling it off just as soon anyway," Mom said half-laughing.

I just shrugged and said something about going upstairs and made my way to my room. I changed my clothes and plugged my phone into the outlet next to my bed and laid down. I stared at the ceiling for a few minutes, thinking about what Mom had said. "some dating app." How could James possibly find a girl through his phone and already be marrying her? I hadn't even had a boyfriend in several years, let alone think of getting married.

I unlocked my phone and went on the Appstore. I scrolled through the categories until I found "Dating and Social." I clicked the first few and downloaded them. Surely it couldn't hurt to make a profile. It's not like anyone would click anyway.

I made accounts on three apps. I put very generic information like my home state, my first name, and a couple of my interests. I put a basic photo of myself from the side, so only a profile shot of me was shown. I didn't want to give these people too much information about me.

Within three minutes I had six notifications. Three were welcoming me to the app, but the other three were actually people who had either 'liked' or viewed my profile. I started chatting with a few about stupid stuff like the weather or my home state. I didn't get too many matches, and I didn't want to view too many people's profiles all of a sudden, so I just chatted with the three that had first contacted me.

"Dinner!" Mom screamed up the stairs. I put my phone down and went down to eat. By the time I returned, I had sixty-five notifications of people messaging me. Being a little creeped out, I deleted two of the apps and decided to just keep one.

Most of the messages were just "hey" or "hi" but some were innapropriate. I clicked a random "hi" and responded. He was a black-haired guy, mid-20s, typical muscular picture showing off his abs and some of his friends were with him in another picture, all of them drinking.

We talked back and forth for quite a while. We seemed to get along well, so I gave him my actual number. I texted him for about three hours that night before falling asleep. It made me happy to have someone to talk to, and he seemed really nice.

The next morning I woke up and had four unread notifications all from that guy. His name was Tyler and he had said "Hello?" three times and "Good night" after I had not responded for four hours. I answered with "Sry fell asleep" and he read it within ten seconds, and responded "Its alright. Good morning."

I ignored this for a bit, as I got ready for school. Tyler texted me four more times before I got to school. I thought it was nice someone wanted to talk to me, but it was a little much for the span of thirty minutes.
