Can an apartment complex charge you to fix something that they are going to replace? personalfinance

My wife and I have lived in an apartment complex for around a year and a half now and are breaking our lease to move into a house we recently bought. Since we originally moved into the apartment, another company bought them out and is remodeling the apartments as tenants move out to make them "luxury" apartments.

I've walked a few of these re-done apartments and they all have new laminate floors, new faux granite counter tops, and stainless steel appliances just to name a few things. The leasing agent walked our apartment today to look for damages and said they are charging me for things I know will be replaced. Dent in the refrigerator, small stain on the counter top, chipping paint on the microwave etc.

Can they charge me to repair something they are replacing all together? It doesn't seem right since they aren't actually fixing any of the damages. They want to charge us an extra $800 for damages, most of which are in the kitchen and will be replaced so I just wanted to check with some people that know more about this than me.
