Using a 2-prong to 3-prong adapter for a mini-fridge in a rented house HomeImprovement

Don't know if this is the right subreddit to post this in, but here goes.

I'm currently renting this old house. No where in this house are 3 pin sockets. Its like an 80 year old house or something.

I just bought a mini fridge and am currently using a 3 pin adapter to plug it into a 2 pin socket. I can't rewire the socket (put the screw through the plate in the 3 pin adapter). My land lady doesn't care as this is a college housing and she says its fine.

I'm concerned about this as the manual and common sense tells me that its unsafe. I have no other option tho. I didn't want to plug it into a power strip as they are even more unsafe.

How unsafe do you think this setup is? I don't want it to blow up; and certainly I don't want to die of an electrical shock. I believe the house is grounded at the box.

Also, I kept my refrigerator on the carpet as my room is carpeted. There are other tenants living in the house; so I have one room to myself.

I live in the USA, if thats relevant.
