So, today is the day listed on my lease as my move in date. We loaded up a truck yesterday and today we got there and the apartment has tons of issues. First, the overwhelming smell of cat piss and cigarette just hits you in the face when you open the door, and the apartment is generally dirty. Hair in the bathroom, in the kitchen, IN THE REFRIGERATOR, etc. There are 3 burn marks (cigarettes?) In the counter and 3 scratches and various damage to the counters including a large stain by the sink. The oven doesn't work (isn't plugged in maybe? Won't turn on) lastly they didn't give me my accent wall which was promised but that was only a verbal agreement and they're claiming it's not in my file.
What do I do? We decided to get the movers to hold off a couple days because I didn't feel comfortable moving into this place. I documented all the issues with the apartment and told the front desk, but the managers aren't in and the only person there is new and won't make me any promises for fear of losing her job, so it seems like I'll have to wait until Tuesday to move in?
