Living in Portland, Oregon. I'm new to this state.
My previous landlord just emailed me and I'm not really sure how to handle it. I'm not too aware of the rental law in this state.
I'll quote it --
Hi Guys, Sorry for being so late giving you an update on the deposit refund. We hit a couple of snafus with things around the house.
First of all, the garbage disposal turned out to be not worthy for repair. We tried to get an answer from the repair guys who fixed it for the first time but wasn't successful. I had a to install a new one.
But the another major issue arose with the refrigerator which wasn't cooling at all. Didn't you guys notice any problem with the refrigerator before you had moved out? Since, the tenants had already moved in when we realized this, we didn't have time to go through a lengthy diagnosis and repair process. Eventually, we ended up buying a new refrigerator as well :(
Anyways, I am still waiting for the final bill from the garbage disposal installers. I will let you know about the final amount of refund deposit before mailing your checks.
And my response --
I am not sure what to say about the garbage disposal. The repair man you hired came out to 'fix it' and it worked for a while. Apparently it stopped working again. All he did was stick a broom in the disposa,l so I really hope he wasn't expensive.
I moved pounds of frozen fish and other refrigerated items from the fridge. I have been fishing all year this year, in Oregon and in Alaska, and have been lucky enough to get a lot of salmon. The salmon was frozen solid when we left the townhome and I still have plenty of it. There was not an issue with the appliance when we left.
Regards,
My roommate, for all intents and purposes, moved out two months early. I didn't cook and didn't really use the disposal or the fridge much at all besides the frozen fish. What are the typical moves at this point?
Thank you in advanced for your time and consideration.
