I was wondering how you guys dealt with meals. How do you personally do it?
Ideally for me, I would cook, maybe weekly, a big meal on a propane stove outdoors, and then put it away in tupperware in a 12v refrigerator (or some other sort of fridge), and then use a microwave to heat up food throughout the week.
Two issues here are:
What type/brand of refrigerator to buy. Effectiveness, power usage and price vary. Does anyone have a good suggestion for a fridge / cooling solution? (I personally would prefer not to have to use ice/coolers, but others might be OK with that)
The microwave. I know that microwaves draw a LOT of power (especially on startup) and are not very plausible for solar setups (unless they’re huge). Would it be possible to buy a small dedicated generator for the microwave? I am willing to do this to fit my cooking plan. (I don’t want to have to cook every night) What type/brand of microwave would you suggest. Also, which type/brand of generator?
What is your food solution? And what do you think about mine?
Thanks in advance
