So two days ago (December 2nd), my refrigerator was working fine. Then I wake up yesterday morning, and it wasn't as cold as it was supposed to be. Called the maintenance people (I live in an apartment), they cleaned the coils underneath, but due to the fact that the electric company shut the power off to upgrade the meter (and didn't turn it back on), my refrigerator ended up going without power for approximately 5 hours. After giving it sufficient enough time to attempt to cool down, I checked and still not working.
So now nearly all my food is spoiled. I had one of those big packages of chicken from Costco (as well as a few pounds of hamburger also from Costco) that is no longer safe to eat, milk went bad, even leftovers ended up going bad.
Right now, I have a stack of crackers, a box or two of pasta, and some cereal. All to feed three people until we get paid next week. On top of this, I have renters insurance but that doesn't cover food loss, just property loss.
If anyone could spare some change so I could at least get the essentials back once they fix the fridge (they're supposed to come today), that would be helpful.
I live in Arizona.
