Family Landlord removing access (Maryland) legaladvice

Location: Maryland

In a situation where family members are paying other family members to live in a portion of the home, does this constitute a month-to-month lease? I am assuming it does, since there is no written lease.

If my assumption is correct, what is the landlord guilty of (if anything) if they impede access to "common" resources suddenly?

Specifically, the "upstairs tenants", after having access to the presumably shared refrigerator for 8 months, found their access to it revoked suddenly following a conflict with the landlord (who also lives in the home).

Is this at all constructive eviction? Is it something else? Is it nothing at all? Just trying to understand the situation that a third party is dealing with.
