I found that I have sour cream a bit too old to eat without additional processing in my refrigerator, it tasted and smelled ok though. I have decided to cook candies called iriski, after some revision of products I have I found that I do not have enough sugar, and went to grocery to buy some.
Currently I live in Vietnam and know only a bit of Vietnamese, but I know names of most products and can read a bit, so buying a sugar should not be a problem.
Having returned with 2 kilos of precious white stuff I started to cook, put some foil to the pot to protect it from melted sugar, added my sour cream, mixed it with my sugar 1:1 in volume, and started to melt.
After mixing everything I decided to taste it, to check if I have to add more sugar, or is it enough already, took the whole spoon, put it into my mouth, it was salty! I decided that I mixed sugar for salt somehow but that would not be TIFU worth writing about. Actually it was glutamate, I mixed up words for taste and sweet! And it is not called taste amplifier for nothing, old sour cream has so many subtle tastes and most of them are disgusting, like 50 shades of disgust, and it lasts, you do not simply wash it of and go, water, tea, sweet candies, nothing helps for about 20 minutes.
