Hello. I have been looking at cold brew. Some recommend a 1:4 ratio others recommend 1:8 and there is even more recommendations. I have seen where they talk about concentrate. I do not want concentrate. Is the 1:4 only for concentrate? I want to filter out the beans and start drinking it cold.
Would it work to just soak the beans and water in the refrigerator for 12 hours then pour everything through a Melitta #4 filter? I have seen where they say use a sieve or cheesecloth. I am not sure about the cheesecloth. I think the flavor of the coffee could change a great deal depending on how you wash the cheesecloth or even the detergent you use. What is wrong or not good/optimal using a paper filter? Thank you.
