I have a backup refrigerator/freezer which lost power for an unknown length of time. I would estimate somewhere between 4 and 12 hours. When I discovered it, everything in the freezer was still cold, but small cartons of juice were in a liquid state, and a pork roast was still mostly frozen (the outer surface gave a little when I squeezed it, but it was mostly still frozen). Note: the doors remained closed the whole time.
Other items included shrink-wrapped chicken, shrink-wrapped beef, and non-shrink-wrapped chicken.
I'm not really too concerned about anything except a package of frozen sea scallops. How long is too long? They definitely thawed some, but I didn't specifically give them the squeeze test.
I'm not particularly squeamish, but I also don't want to get food poisoning. I would appreciate any advice on what should definitely not be used.
Thanks.
