Do I have ms? MultipleSclerosis

Age: 28 Sex: M Height: 190cm Weight: 80kg Race: White Duration: ~1 year Location: Australia Blood pressure: Normal Smoking: Never Alcohol: regular from 18-22 years old, almost never after that

About 1 year ago I was at home and my left hand began to feel like it was on fire. It was so uncomfortable that I slept with my hand in a bowl of water. The next morning the sensation was gone, but days later I felt a much weaker sensation of cold/fire in my hands and feet, which I came to learn was peripheral neuropathy.

I saw a doctor and had many blood tests done, a standard blood test which I was told would check my kidneys, liver, etc. Everything was normal. Other tests were done and I was told I don't have diabetes, vitamin b12, b1, and various other vitamins were all normal, and although I have taken a multi-vitamin daily for most of my life I know there can be deficiencies for other reasons.

Some time before that I had been changing a very old light in a very old building which had asbestos safety signs in the lobby and on all of the floors, when the light cracked and powder went into my mouth. At the time I had gone to a doctor because the next day I had pretty severe flu-like symptoms, coughing, and I had a scab on the back of my throat, which I was told was a chemical burn.

At the time of checking for peripheral neuropathy, the doctor remembered this incident and checked for mercury, arsenic, and every other metal that could be tested for in my blood, all of which were negative.

My question is that recently I have read that if I have been poisoned with mercury or another metal, this probably will not show up in a blood test because the metal will be in my nerves throughout my brain and body. How can I check for them and does this sound like something that I should check for?

At first the symptoms were just peripheral neuropathy (hands and feet, but sometimes lips or eyebrows) but after a few months and various tests finding nothing, I began to notice that my vision was becoming less focused, and also kind of hazy. I began to fall over sometimes and my fine motor skills have deteriorated noticeably. It is also very difficult to concentrate on anything, and I became unable to focus on reading something like a book for more than a few minutes.

I also had a cough for several months which seemed to be caused by something irritating my lungs. These days I do not cough so much but I do feel some irritation in my lungs every day. I also feel some weird smell when I inhale. I also recently noticed a fungal infection in my mouth which responds to medication and then comes back when I stop the medication.

I went through various stages of thinking that I had diabetes, kidney failure, acidic blood, mercury poisoning, thinking that my neighbors had a meth lab, a gas leak, refrigerator leak, air conditioner leak, etc.

After various tests showed nothing, my doctor recommended me to see a neurologist, but it is very expensive and I don't know what they would be able to do anyway. I expect that they will just ask me to do a test, tell me that I am perfectly healthy, and then ask me to do another test, etc. And even if they found a problem and told me I had multiple sclerosis or something, I don't know what they would be able to do about it.

I also saw a website just now, which prompted me to submit this post: http://ift.tt/1IKhGEh I can probably find a similar test near me, and if I can't then I could send the sample to them in USA, but would a test like this tell me whether I have mercury in my nerves?

I want to ask about what could be the cause, or how to find the cause, what could be done about it, etc.

I forgot to mention another symptom that I had during the initial stages:

During the initial stages when the main symptoms I noticed were peripheral neuropathy and coughing/lung irritation, I would occasionally be just sitting or not doing anything too stressful, and I would feel uncomfortable and then my vision would gradually white out while going sparkly. I checked my pulse each time and it seemed normal, and I wasn't breathing too much/not enough, just sitting or standing in a comfortable environment. I don't know whether this is related and it doesn't happen any more but it did occur frequently back then.
