We are all unique individuals in our own ways, and things that we enjoy are part of what makes us, us. As well as... pet peeves. We all have them. But is mine unreasonable? And don't get the idea that I am a nasty person from reading this. The fact is that I am noticing it in myself, bringing it to light and asking about the ethical stance of it speaks for itself.
I am a passionate hater of small talk to begin with. I often find myself getting horrendously annoyed whenever my bf does 2 of the following: 1) Points out obvious little unimportant things. Examples, I'll heat up Poptarts . I'll come back in the room, he'll look straight at the Poptart, CLEARLY SEEING that it is a Poptart, and go " YOU MADE POPTARTS??" and another time he was opening up a new box of plastic forks- I was standing right next to him--- literally watching him tear the perforated seal off and pull a fork out. I then after turned around to grab a drink our of the refrigerator and he says "HEY. THERE ARE FORKS RIGHT HERE. HEY. DO YOU SEE THEM?? THERE ARE FORKS HERE" and all I could do was cringe and roll my eyes while turned away from him. I know he saw me watching him open them.
And he also asks about every little tiny unimportant thing that I'm doing. Like I'll get up to go grab a soda and he'll be like "Where are you going????" and then I'll grab something out the fridge and he'll be like "WHAT ARE YOU MAKIN IN THERE????" and then when I come back and sit by him, he gets overly interested in stupid shit like what I microwaved. He squints his eyes and sticks his nose in my bowl and goes "SOUP??"
and you get the idea. I just find making something out of mundane activities of daily living to be painfully irritating. It sounds like nails on a chalk board to me.
And I hate that it's a pet peeve but I can't help it...
