My buddy's grandpa died and he installed a refrigerator in the basement that was used to store film in 1945. His uncle said he remembers that when they put the fridge in that he was told it was never to be touched and was never for food. For what ever reason (he was a kid,) before the film and everything was put in, he put a tray of ice in a metal box and placed it in the back of the freezer. The other day when I was helping him clear out some stuff, we opened the fridge that has been on since it was installed and the cubes were still there right where he left them 72 years ago. They look normal, maybe a tiny bit rounded? But the color is fine and they don't seem to smell. Would these ice cubes from 1945 be consumable? The family doesn't remember any significant power outages or interruptions.
