Either way, you must have an ice maker in your kitchen, be it a standalone ice machine or the one that comes together with your refrigerator. Every day, you produce causing the ice maker to refresh thirsty throats or help preserve cooking ingredients like meat in the freezer. Despite its useful function, ice machines also have certain problems around its usage and maintenance. Taking too much Time
It would be annoying if you expect to have an amount of ice cubes after some time but finding almost nothing or only a few of them and worse, the machine stops working because the evaporator got a freeze. The cause of this problem can be a limited water intake due to the water filter getting blocked by something. Another aspect that can cause this issue is the temperature of the machine itself. If during the production the machine the outer part of the machine feels hot, it will extend the ice-making process. This can happen if the defrost gas leaked.
The Machine is on without Result
Everyone would agree that this problem is more annoying than the previous one if it happens. What may cause this thing to occur is a piling up dirt in the float switch or the level sensor. In case you clean either one or both parts mentioned, you need to check the water intake flow because it should stop when the machine has started working since some machines do not stop a while after that. To solve this, you need to clean the fill solenoid valve from the dirt that piled up inside of it.
The Ice does not drop from the Evaporator
In another case, the problem is not that the machine does not produce, but the ice is stuck on the evaporator after being processed. The key to this issue is simpler than the previous ones since the cause is the evaporator itself. Not all ice makers have a stainless evaporator and this can cause the ice to not drop smoothly or even stuck on it. When this problem happens, check the plating of the evaporator. If the evaporator’s plating is already gone, you need to replace it.
Dead Compressor
Sometimes ice makers do not work because of a problem with their compressor. Commonly, if you hear an unusual humming sound from inside the machine, there is something wrong with the compressor. This issue deals with the electricity that goes to the compressor. Depending on its condition, the compressor might need to be replaced. In some cases, there is an abnormal humming sound from the machine, but the compressor is completely fine. This is caused by the contractor, the electricity at the coil, or loose wire, which leads to failure in control relay
