Does anyone else get sort of grossed out by the smell of re-heated, and sometimes of cold refrigerated, chicken breast?
My SO does not seem to notice the smell, and many other people I've mentioned it to look at me like I'm sort of crazy, but I get a distinct, almost "wet dog" smell from chicken that's been put into the fridge. I don't tend to notice it as much in pre-made chicken dishes that I purchase, but always from leftovers.
I am POSITIVE this isn't any sort of spoiling because it happens with chicken cooked well before it's expiration date, and just one day or a few hours in the refrigerator. I've tried different sauces, I've tried cutting up the chicken while it's still hot, waiting until it's cold to cut it, cutting it into big pieces, small pieces.....Always there is a weird smell.....
In any case, chicken is such a versatile ingredient and it is so healthy that I am looking for ways to use it in my meal prep, but that smell makes it inedible to me. Anyone who knows what I'm talking about, and is able to give me some pointers, or even an explanation, would be massively appreciated!
:D
