We already have an internet of modern cars. I drive an ancient car, and it still gets me where I want to go-- even if I have to know where I'm going. What is the value I get, as a consumer, from having my TV, refrigerator, oven, and home lighting connected to the internet? I can already set my coffeemaker to start when I want. I understand the surveillance advantage, certainly. But someone has to pay for all this, and "they" expect that to be me. Ok...But what do I stand to gain from an internet of things?
