The Thing vs. Homo Aquaticus (Leviathan) whowouldwin

The Thing vs. Homo Aquaticus

prepare for a shitty story Setting: A team of 22 scientists inhabit a research base at the bottom of a deep Arctic lake. While out drilling in the ice at the lake bottom they find a contorted and mutated frozen corpse holding a bottle. Its body is extracted and brought to the lab to be examined. Once thawed, the team begin an autopsy on the corpse. The bottle, placed in a refrigerator to thaw, was mistaken by one of the more careless researchers for another beverage who foolishly drank it. Within hours he shows signs of illness and is sent to the sick ward on the other side of the base. That night a lone researcher continues to study the thawed corpse. As he's preparing an incision on its abdomen, tentacles squirm out from its back and grab the researcher.

The next morning, the others notice the sick researcher is nowhere to be found, and the lone researcher that was performing the autopsy has disappeared. Now the Thing and the Homo Aquaticus roam the research base. The crew have placed a distress call and will be extracted by the following morning. Which of the two creatures can kill/assimilate the most researchers before they leave?

  • The submarine pods were destroyed by the creatures overnight, preventing an early escape.

Round 1 - The Thing/Homo Aquaticus will not take the form of those they assimilate; they're out for blood with no regard for cover.

Round 2 - Both creatures will take the forms of those they assimilate and will try to gain the other researchers' trust to kill them.

Round 3 - The Thing and Homo Aquaticus target each other.
