Is it ever okay to reheat refrigerator temp food directly in a chafing dish? AskCulinary

I'm catering a buffet in a remote location. No electricity, nearest running water is a 5 minute walk. Basically all food has to be brought in packed in ice. I have access to gas burners and chafing dishes, but no oven.

I would like to be able to pre-cook dishes and just warm them, but I'm worried about food safety. Is there any possible way it would be okay to reheat a cold tray of baked pasta using only my chafing dishes?
