GE refrigerator ice maker unknown tube mystery appliancerepair

I have a 16 year old GE side by side model TFB26PPDAWW. In the process of moving the ice maker in and out the fill tube broke off. I saw a nice video of how to replace it. Looks simple. The problem is that in the process of melting the ice I found a white plastic tube, not a fill tube, which is 9.5 inches long and 5/8 inch OD. This tube is square on both ends and has no marks of being fit into anything. It bears the number 643174P26. I can't figure out where this goes. A photo of a replacement ice maker online shows this part, but the video demonstrating the replacement steps doesn't mention the tube at all. Very frustrating.
