We are remodeling our kitchen. It will be a U-shaped kitchen, and we are planning to recess the fridge in a brick chimney alcove at the open end of the U. Because of the design, the deeper the fridge, the less counter/cabinet space we can have. So, we are trying to find the shallowest fridge and maximize space where we can.
As apart of that, my wife really wants a water/ice dispenser. We don't have one currently and use a brita pitcher. I'm not an expert, but I would think we would need additional depth clearance for a water line. Because of the brick chimney, we couldn't recess the water line in the wall. Also, my understanding is that fridge dispensers take up refrigerator space (which we'll already be short on) and break often.
Is there a good alternative? We mostly just want instantly cold water. I know there are sink water dispensers and filters, but I'm having trouble finding one that would chill the water.
