Yesterday was such a TIFU for me, but it was a total win for our two rescues! dogs

Long story, It was a long morning and turned out great!

We have two rescues, both are two-time strays, abused, abandoned, adopted out, They are definitely food-centered and have been a challenge to train to eat slowly, and only their own food.

We've worked on learning to NOT inhale everything remotely edible, at home (especially during meal prep or when we're eating) and on walks. We've had to stop them from eating "found food" on our walks, including chicken bones, probably rotting meat, and all sorts of poop! It has saved them from eating dropped chocolate, mac nuts, raisins, etc., foods toxic or hazardous to dogs!

They've been pretty good about it, that I can see, but they do still patrol and scavenge and randomly lick the floor. I figure we just need to keep at it, right?

Well, yesterday was a total TIFU for me. Blame it on DST, lack of coffee, the cold, whatever. But I made my coffee, opened the fridge to get some milk, moved a pot of soup, poured my milk, moved the fridge door and BAM! somehow knocked the entire pot of soup onto the floor. I said a swear word. Maybe two. Chicken, vegies, pasta, garlicky-oniony soup, all over the floor.

I looked to check that the dogs were still in their beds. They were! They hadn't moved! Okay, they turned to look, but they didn't look ready to launch out of their beds to eat all the food!

I had to go down the hall to the laundry room to get the dust pan and cleaning supplies, and the dogs didn't budge! They even turned to curl up and NOT LOOK, VERY HARD. I cleaned up the mess, wiped down everything, and sanitized the refrigerator, the floor, etc.

Then I got the last of their bacony treats and went to them in their beds and gave them each a bacon treat and lots of praise, SUCH GOOD DOGS!! They have come so far, and I could not be prouder of them!
