New to brewing. Just tried to make hard apple cider. Did I do it correctly? Homebrewing

I'm new to brewing. I just want to make sure this is correct.

I read some guides online but my general process was:

Buy 5 gallons of apple juice, not from concentrate.

Create a starter - Pour a couple cups into a container, add packet of yeast that is able for 5 gallons. Let sit for 6 hours, open to allow CO2 to escape, then put in refrigerator.

Today (next day) - Heat, don't boil, the cider with extra sugar for alcohol content, and place into 5 gallon carboy. Allow to sit for an hour to cool down. Pour starter in carboy. Place air lock on top with some vodka as a filter.

It's been 5 hours or so and I don't see any bubbling. I know this process takes months but I am worried that I might have done something wrong. I was under the assumption that the starter is supposed to get it going quicker.

I might be paranoid

edit: there is a lot of yeast at the bottom and the container is warm. is that good?
