Slice, thin cucumbers... put them in a gallon glass jar that has a lid that shuts tight. Then pour the pickle brine per the below to top off the jar. They will be AWESOME within a week or two. Gotta keep them in refridgerator though.
4 cups white vinegar
4 cups sugar
1/3 cup salt
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon mustard seed
1/3 teaspoon turmeric powder
Put in pot and let come to boil. Pour over sliced cucumbers in 1 gallon jar. Let stand on counter top until cool. Then refrigerate. Will last for months in refrigerator.
You don't have to make THIS much brine. you can slice your cukes (ones i gave you!) and put them in a jar with a lid.
You can use the recipe - just halve it (or more reduction, but all this reduction of recipe is beyond my math skills, snicker!)
Key here is simply making enough brine to cover the pickles, but just enough to cover. That's all.
