Have long been a fan of this sub, read it everyday. Never posted, I hope I'm doing it right. Judging by some of your comments, I'm sure I'll hear if I am not
I'm 35, and a single dad to a 7 year old boy who loves me unconditionally. He does not know the difference between me and Superman. Never had any kind of issues with him until we recently moved from his childhood home to a new house. I live in Pittsburgh, tons of old, creepy and cavernous homes. We moved from a small place in the middle of a state park, very secluded. Now, we are in a great neighborhood and our house was built in 1903.
Everything was fine, he loved the new place. Tons of neighboring kids his age. Playing until dark, having all the fun a 7 year old could. Three nights ago, I woke up to him clawing my face, hard! It was 2:37 am. Puzzled, I asked him what was wrong. He said it was a bad dream. That a scary man was in his closet. I invite him to snuggle up to dad, and sleep with me. I don't think anything of it. His room is directly beside mine and his closet is about the size of a refrigerator. No crawl space or anything. Just an access panel to the adjacent bath tub plumbing. A squirrel wouldn't fit in it.
Two nights ago, at the exactly 2:37 am, he wakes me up the same way. Complaining of the same dream as the night before. This time, I go check his room and closet. Nothing. I'm slightly worried, but manage to fall back asleep quickly with him cuddling close to me again.
Last night, exactly the same time, exactly the same dream. I was concerned for sure. I check my room, closet, windows etc. and there was nothing of concern. I tell him to stay in there. I grabbed my .45 from the bedside safe. My two big mixed breed dogs stayed with him. They normally bark if rain hits the roof! They were not acting oddly in any way. I lock my room up from the outside and leave him there with my two big-ass dogs. I searched every space in my house. Garage, basement, 1st floor, 2nd floor, and attic. I mean, every possible nook for someone to hide. No doors or windows unlocked. I'm 6'4, 270 and an ex Ranger. I hate guns but I know they're necessary these days. I'm not easily scared. But, when my son is involved, I'll kill anything that hurts him, without a second thought. Though, luckily, I've never had to test this theory.
I get back to my room where my son is. He, and the dogs, are sound asleep. I lay down and never get back to sleep. I'm too worried, or paranoid. Something. I don't know. I do believe in the paranormal, but I've never experienced anything that could be so, except once when I was 21 I was kayaking a 20 mile stretch with my two best friends in Oregon when I'm sure we saw Bigfoot. We were also about halfway through a quarter of shrooms a piece, so, it could've been something else!
My questions: should I be concerned? Is it my son's imagination? Or is he trolling my dad skills?
Not trying to scare anyone or tell fabricated stories. Just want suggestions. Thanks.
