I'm curious how long i can keep chicken breast in the refrigerator before it goes slimy / develops an off smell (usually smells eggy to me)?
And I'm not talking keeping the chicken breast vacuum packed or still sealed in those machine sealed Styrofoam trays, i mean either purchasing chicken breast by the piece (they put it in a plastic bag), or in a Styrofoam tray where the plastic wrap (whether machine sealed or just hand wrapped) has been opened (i am removing a piece every day)
Is it something like a maximum of 3 or 4 days?
If i were to rinse them all when i first purchase them, would that increase or decrease the amount of time i can keep them in the fridge? (is it bad to wash if not eating immediately?)
And finally let's say i rinse them as well as marinate them (let's say salt and pepper), would they last longer than leaving them untouched?
Also grocery stores sell marinated meats with various flavoured marinades, I'm guessing the type of marinade will also affect how long the chicken can keep without spoiling?
