LPT: Have a kid who is struggling with reading? Put labels on things in your home at your kid's eye level LifeProTips

Have a kid who is struggling with reading? Use a label maker (or sticky notes, etc.) to create labels for things in your home. Place these labels where your child is most likely to see them.

For example: our son who is Deaf and uses ASL was having a hard time learning how to read. We put labels on just about everything in the house that he or we would use. We put a "door" label on every door in our house. A "Refrigerator" label went on the refrigerator, at his eye level. We would also quiz him by finger-spelling or signing a word, and asking him to find that thing in the house.

We came up with this idea when our son was 12, and wish we had thought of it when he was younger.
