questions about insulin, FRIO, and travel. diabetes

I've asked about traveling and insulin in an earlier post and in other forums. A lot of people have mentioned FRIO as a solution. I'm currently packing to return home from an 2 week trip. Before I left, I hydrated a FRIO bag and haven't touched it in 15 days. When I was packing up tonight, I found that it was still pretty cool.

As I've mentioned earlier, from what I can find, the manufacture says that unused Toujeo needs to be refrigerated, and that once a pen is at room temperature for more than 4 hours, it has to be used within 45 days.

The FRIO sleeves seem to keep insulin cooler than room temperature, but warmer than a refrigerator. I'm going to assume that traveling in the FRIO sleeves, the insulin will last longer than 4 hours. On my next trip, I'm going to be traveling for almost 12 hours and on-the-road for over two months. I'm wondering how you tell if insulin has "gone bad"? I've read that you should throw it out if it gets cloudy. If it remains clear, does that mean that it is still good?
