I have a 240cu motor with a T18 tranny. Running project a year off the farm. I have been driving off and on for the past year working out kinks but recently it has developed a new issue.
Theres a pretty severe knock somewhere after the motor. It's intermittent and only in gear. Its severe enough to buck the truck. It seems to happen higher in the RPM range but I have no tach to pinpoint where exactly.
If its bucking/knocking and I engage the clutch it instantly goes away. It feels more to the rear of the tranny, almost if someone is hitting the rear of the cab floor with a hammer. I can rev the motor up and and down in neutral or with the clutch engaged and doesn't skip a beat.
Could it be a broken spring in the clutch that goes out of whack with centrifugal forces at higher RPMs?
Something worn or loose in the tranny?
Bad carrier bearing at the half shaft causing the halfshaft to flail?
Something else?
Thanks
