I'm in the US and have an outlet inside our garage that I would like to use for a low-voltage outside lighting setup (~120W or so). However, that outlet is not a GFCI and it also powers a refrigerator. I'm happy getting our electrician to convert the circuit to a GFCI but I'm worried the fridge would trigger the GFCI at every cycle (I've already emailed him but haven't heard back). Is it safe to just get one of those extension cords that acts as a GFCI? Thanks for any feedback!
