Not a question, hope this is allowed. Just wanted to share.
A friend and I were working on my Son's car last week. In the process of trying to hammer out a CV axle joint, a metal shard flew up and hit me in the forehead.
Wear your eye protection folks!
It bled a good bit, but obviously wasn't life threatening, so I held a tissue to it until the bleeding stopped, and then went on about my business.
Here it is a week later, I walk into the bathroom for a shower, and as I think most of us are wont to do, I was looking at my face in the mirror and noticed what I thought was a pimple on my forehead. Centered with a black spot, surrounded by a bit of redness, but not really any discernible swelling.
I squeezed it like a normal pimple, and it opened up, not like a pimple but with a horizontal 'cut'... and then I remembered the flying metal hitting me in the face.
Upon closer inspection with some magnifying glasses I was able to tell there was something embedded under my skin.
I squeezed and poked and prodded to no avail. Lots of blood but I just couldn't get it out.
About the time I was hitting the desperation mark... I remembered I had a stack of neodymium magnets on the refrigerator.
I retrieved one, and went back to the bathroom mirror, massaged the magnet across the wound area, and low and behold ! It pulled the metal shard right out.
More blood flowed... and I figured that was good for cleaning things out a little so I let it bleed for a few and then cleaned it a little, applied some antibiotic ointment and held a tissue to it until it clotted up.
Today, there's no redness or swelling... so Yay me.
The magnet was a pretty good success. :)
