Two days ago my family and I were leaving to visit relatives. It was very hot and dry outside so I suggested my father turns off power to make sure nothing overheats and breaks/catches fire while we are gone. Today we got back and I decided to grab some food from the refrigerator.
TL;DR: TIL refrigerators need power to operate.
