My landlord is going out of her way to keep our deposit personalfinance

Last summer my girlfriend and I rented our first home in the city we both attend school at. With time being against us in the moving process we chose a house I which the owner lived in half and us in the other. Our rent is 850/mo. We paid an $850 security deposit, a $200 utility deposit, first and last month's rent up front. For this we have in writing on a very jenky piece of paper, but we have her signature and ours. This was in June of 2014 and we weren't able to move in until August at which she said she would have a lease agreement made up. I'm kicking myself in the ass for even considering that. Anyway, fast forward a couple months and we never saw those lease papers. We also never took pictures if the interior and the place looked like someone had been living here under our dollar. Dishes in the sink, cleaning supplies laying around, food in the refrigerator. It is now technically a year after our "lease" and we are moving Sunday. I typed up a document in word saying that we paid our rent and utilities for the year we have been here and have asked her to sign it. She is avoiding us like the plague. We were going to have a cleaning company take care of the house on the 15th (we are to be out on the 14th) and she won't have it. I have had issues with this lady the entire time I've been here and I documented it poorly. I know she is going to do everything she can do keep those deposits. Legally, do I have a case?
