One-dimensional characters, terrible pacing, illogical plots, and too little suspense. It's like watching Airbud 5 with more explosions.
These movies are disappointing and feel like extended trailers of themselves, featuring as many eye-catching effects as they can fit into the run-time.
What movies am I talking about?
Jurassic World Fast and Furious Pirates of the Caribbean (newer ones) Guardians of the Galaxy II the recent Star Wars movie Suicide Squad... etc.
...Do people like this kind of stuff? There's almost no suspense. Nothing truly shocking happens because the survival expectations are immediately elevated to god level two minutes in after the main character escapes a fleet of armored gorillas through a wormhole into a blackhole and then breaks a space window launching them 7 trillion lightyears away in a refrigerator to the planet *A'U''gg where they defeat the ultimate galactic villain. OR, the characters do stuff that is completely out of character and wouldn't make sense: Prometheus. "Oh yeah, we're professionals on a once-in-a-lifetime mission worth trillions-" But, "Fuck gloves, contamination, and the rules. We're pirates now!"
After that the whole film feels redundant, illogical and pointless.
If they can spend SO much on special effects and actors... why can't they at least make a decent plot??
