Fridge not cold enough. HomeImprovement

Hello all, I have a problem with my newer model refrigerator. It's only three years old, here is the model. Yesterday morning, we noticed the butter in the fridge was a little soft. So I checked everything else and it was all cool but not cold. The freezer seemed fine. After some troubleshooting via online research, I decided it may be the evaporator coils frosted over. I came to this conclusion based on a few reasons. My son claims that the fridge door was cracked open when he got up that morning. I'm not sure this is true, because he said it wasn't at first then said it was cracked, and he has tendency to exaggerate. But also, I can feel cool/cold air coming out through the vent in the fridge, so I feel like the fan must be working.

So I decided to do a 24 hour defrost. I left the unit unplugged and open for a day, then plugged it back in. It's been running since about 8 AM (9 hours) and it still doesn't seem very cold. I placed a cup of room temperature water in it, but that cup still doesn't seem very cold. It's colder than when I placed it in there, just not as cold as it should be. I'm not sure how long exactly its supposed to take to get completely cold. I read online anywhere from a few hours to a day. Like I said before, prior to unplugging it, the freezer seemed to be normal. But since powering back up, the freezer still hasn't gone back to the normal temp, thus maybe why the fridge is not yet to the normal temp.

It's fair to mention that I found a bit of water around the fridge about a week or two ago, but I'm not sure this came from the fridge. We have a cat bowl near the area, as well as small children in our home. But during the defrost, some water did leak onto the floor. Is this normal during a total defrost. I must assume the ice of the coils would melt, go into the drain tube, but since the evaporator fan isn't powered on, the pan would overflow.

Any other recommendations? Thanks.
