Hi, I am mostly good with how heat engines function, but I have no idea how they work in reverse. Basically, the closest thing to an explanation that I have gotten is that you can get heat to flow from cold to hot if you do work on the engine, but I fail to see how this follows. Doing work on the engine will certainly increase its temperature, no? So then even more heat would flow towards the cold reservoir. How does this work?
