Recently, our (my husband and I) insurance carrier changed our prescription provider from Express Script to CVS Caremark. We asked SEVERAL times if CVS Caremark would let us keep our pharmacy (Walgreen's) of 3+ years. They assured us EVERY TIME that we could get all of our medications from Walgreen's just like before.
Today, we went to pick up our meds for the first time this year. We were told that half of our prescriptions could no longer be picked up from Walgreen's, and instead we have to go to CVS. We are also being hard pressed to allow our medications to be shipped to us.
The medications they want to mail to me? One of my psych meds, my cluster headache preventative, and soon another of my psych meds. I’m sorry, maybe I don’t want a stranger working who knows where to send me medications that I rely on for my day to day functionality.
At our current pharmacy, every pharmacist knows my very large family by name. They even ask how we are if some of us haven’t been there for a while. They always give us the heads up when any medication manufacturer has changed so that new pills aren’t a surprise. They can always answer my questions and are on the ball about medication conflicts. If there is ever an issue with filling a medication, they CALL US IMMEDIATELY to let us know and go out of their way to fix any issues. I've never been happier with a pharmacy.
Our local CVS? We have waited 10-15 minutes to even be ACKNOWLEDGED by someone behind the counter, even being the only customers there. They have LOST medications in their pharmacy. Let me elaborate: they filled them and then couldn't find them. They had to empty every medication bin and check every name, TWICE. They found it in the back of a locked refrigerator (it didn’t need refrigeration) 15 minutes later. The technicians are rude, they goof off behind the counter instead of helping customers, continue their conversations while ignoring the customers they are helping, and they can’t answer questions about medication conflicts, even if the customer even knows what to ask!
This is complete and utter bullshit. We are tired of being dicked around. We tired of being LIED to! We have paperwork to PROVE that we were given this information, and now they are telling us it didn’t happen. They refuse to acknowledge that their representatives are giving out bad information and are instead trying to break down each prescription and tell us why we can’t get it at our pharmacy. Our options are CVS or mail-order, and this is bullshit.
CVS Caremark is LYING! They are LIARS and will refuse your medications if they aren’t picked up at an approved location. They are GAS LIGHTING and pretending that nothing is happening. They aren’t listening to complaints, they aren’t willing to compromise, and they aren’t willing to admit that these things are happening! THEY ARE LIARS!
