Fridge recently broke down and repairman said that one of the parts needed - condenser coil, is discontinued. Other part is new compressor. From all of the research I have done, no where is it suggested to replace coils when you replace a compressor - just to clean them. Does this sound correct? HomeImprovement

Refrigerator is a GE Profile, model # PFS22SISBSS, and is roughly 10 years old - or a little under. It’s a nice fridge and aside from the compressor not kicking on anymore - I do agree that compressor is shot, as I have personally ruled out the starter delay and other possible issues - everything seems to be in good shape and clean. I know I can get a compressor for $250 plus labor to install, and think that would fix the fridge. I just have never heard of having to replace the coils along with a new compressor.
