"Consume within 30 days of freezing" labels - are these for food quality reasons and not food safety? AskCulinary

A relative of mine just recently had to move to a major city centre for the next ~15-18 months or so for medical treatment reasons after being diagnosed with cancer, and I've agreed to move into her place to house-sit and pet-sit for her whilst she's away. She's told me to help myself to anything in the deep freeze, which has hundreds of pounds worth of food in it. I'm not concerned at all about the frozen beef, lamb, poultry, etc, as I can easily look up the freezer life online, but she has dozens of frozen pre-made prepared meals from Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, etc as well (she bought a ton of them after being diagnosed, she was too tired / sick to cook most nights). Most of them have a label that says "Consume within 30 days of freezing". I have to imagine that this is for food quality purposes, and not food safety? As a recent uni grad I've never had more than a tiny freezer as part of a refrigerator combo, so I've never kept anything frozen for long before. I thought I should check with someone more knowledgeable than myself before either binning it all or ending up with food poisoning...
