Ultimate goal: charge my rechargeable aa/aaa/D batteries while hunkering down
Background: I have a 1800W generator and gas stored (ethanol free with stabil and rotated yearly), but the generator's purpose is to extend my refrigerator and freezer supplies.
I'd like to be able to make as much use out of my gas consumption while the generator is running. Because the small batteries take so long to charge, I was thinking of using a deep cycle battery as a buffer between the generator and the rechargable batteries. So, I would charge the 12V battery from the generator and then have a 12V powered charging station for my batteries that could continue to charge after my generator is off. Then eventually I could add a small solar panel potentially.
I also have a XANTREX PROwatt SW Inverters 600W inverter available to integrate to the battery pack for other uses if you want to get creative on the build ideas...
Could you guys poke some holes in my idea, or make some other suggestions. Thanks!
