The salad dressing is... unopened? Glitch_in_the_Matrix

Lately we've been having small grocery items appear in our refrigerator out of nowhere. First it was a jar of jelly, then it was a jar of mayo. My husband and I chalked it up to us forgetting that we bought it, but what happened a few minutes ago has me thinking otherwise.

I'm making chicken ranch tacos for dinner, and they call for (of course) ranch dressing. I get into the fridge, get the bottle of ranch, and go to pour some in...

...and it still has the "lift and pull" factory seal on it.

I KNOW we only got one bottle of this dressing, because it was marketed as a "new and improved" recipe and we didn't want to waste a bottle if it turned out we didn't like it. I clearly remember discussing it with my husband. And I KNOW I opened the bottle, because we both dipped a finger in it to taste before using it in another recipe.

We're both wondering where these random condiments are coming from.

Roommate with Rotten Food Glitch_in_the_Matrix

This is far from a horror story, but nonetheless has me humming the theme from The Twilight Zone.

I live in a shared house with minimum five other people. We each have a room that is our own apartment and we share the kitchen and bathrooms. There's a few refrigerators kept downstairs for those of us who live on that level. We all pretty much keep to ourselves outside of the occasional hello or friendly passing small talk.

About a month and a half ago, the landlord sent and email informing me that someone would be moving into one of the rooms on my floor.

I only ran into them a couple of times as they were coming or going. Once as they were being dropped off I asked if they would leave the back door unlocked as I had left my key inside while I went out to smoke. About a month ago I came home earlier than usual and we crossed paths downstairs. He asked me about the Internet, which you must pay to access and have your IP addresses approved. I agreed it sucked not having free WiFi at home, but that when he got on it would be very fast and that there was a library up the street if he needed to use the Internet urgently.

I'd spoken to this person more than any of the other people I live with, and perhaps more than even the landlord. After our conversation about the Internet, I hadn't seen him again. I do leave early and often get home late so I hadn't thought much about it. Frankly it's rare for me to see anyone.

Two weeks ago as my SO and I were on our way to sleep, we hear knocking on the back door. I go check and it's a male and female I've never seen before in sports jerseys. We have an awkward moment before they say they live in 103 and left their keys. I verify real quick that they actually live here before I let them in and go to bed. I thought it was odd since 103 was the room I thought was occupied by the man I'd had the conversation about the Internet with, but maybe he moved out. I hadn't gotten an email about anyone moving out or in and usually the landlord is good about that kind of thing so we know when to expect extra noise, but like I said, I usually don't come into much contact with my housemates.

Early last week the landlord sent an email about rotten food in the downstairs refrigerator that needed to be cleaned out by Thursday. I had some ham and hotdogs that I'd been thinking were probably close to funky and thought that might have been what the email was about. I'm at work cringing about being that asshole, especially since I work with food and absolutely know better. He also sends an email with the utilities statement, where he was charging me for internet that I haven't been using - that I can't use, because my IP addresses haven't been approved. I respond asking for the mistake to be fixed, and he seems genuinely confused and asks me if I've stopped using the WiFi, and more confused when I tell him that I have never had access, I've been using the library.

When I got home from work I went to toss the meats out. They weren't funky, but were definitely old so no big deal. The bottom left drawer however was full of bags of rotten produce. I don't even remember the last time I went grocery shopping, but I open it to see if anything sparks a memory cause damn, a lot wasn't even recognizable as food anymore and if I'm responsible, huge brain fart and extra shame on me letting it go to waste like that.

It wasn't mine, so I tossed the meats and kept an eye to see who cleaned it out. Thursday comes with another email saying if it's not cleaned out by the end of the week, unlabled perishables will be thrown away at the landlord's discretion. It remains. The landlord is super pissed about having to clean it and I don't blame him; it looked gross.

Of the three other people I share a floor with, no one took responsibility for the food. We're all pretty good about cleaning up after ourselves. The kitchen and bathrooms stay clean. I don't want to think negatively about any of them, so I suggest that maybe it was left by the guy who had recently moved out of 103. Definitely gross, but the people who currently live here aren't jerks.

Except nobody knows who I'm talking about. I can't even find the email letting me know he was moving in. I talked to this guy on multiple occasions, our longest conversation about the Internet. He was an older, heavier white man and the couple who are in the room now are fit and South American. I'm really confused.

Tl;Dr rotten food was left in a refrigerator and nobody remembers the roommate I suggested may have been responsible

Refrigerator Glitch Glitch_in_the_Matrix

This happened to my roommates and I when we were living in our first off-campus apartment together in our junior year of college. One of my roommates had just come home from work, and we were chatting in our kitchen. As my roommate got something from the fridge, she fumbled, knocking a few things out and even detaching the front piece of the lowest shelf on the door of the fridge, which had happened on occasion before. We took a few minutes to laugh and joke about her clumsiness, and began to pick up.

What really got us was that we couldn't find the piece of the fridge door. The piece itself was fairly large, probably a little over two feet long and a few inches wide, and our kitchen was tiny. The pace was maybe ten feet across in each direction, and fully enclosed on three sides. We searched the entire kitchen, between the fridge and the cabinets, underneath all the cabinets and appliances; we even searched the equally small adjoining dining room. Figuring it would turn up at some point in the coming days, we eventually gave up.

Many months later when we were moving out, I did the final sweep before we turned in the keys. I checked every inch of that kitchen, even inside the fridge itself, and we still never found that missing piece of the fridge.

I still have no explanation for this. Glitch_in_the_Matrix

One morning, I pour a bowl of cereal, then get a new carton of soy milk out of the refrigerator immediately behind me. You know those newfangled cartons that have the round, plastic screw cap in the side? It was one of those.

I unscrew the cap, remove that plastic tab that's there when you first open the carton, and pour some soy milk on my cereal. I then go to replace the cap. But I can't find it. I search all around the counter, the fridge, the floor, the dining room table -- nowhere. (Bear in mind, the distance from the fridge to the counter to the table is no more than three steps.)

I'm grumbling in the kitchen about it, and start making a little square of aluminum foil to cover up the hole on the milk carton. My wife, who's in the other room, comes in because she hear's my complaining, and she says in an irritated voice, "It's right there!"

There was the cap. In the middle of the counter where I'd poured the cereal. Right next to the carton.

It would be absolutely impossible not to see -- especially if you're diligently looking all over for that particular thing.

Weird.

A Quarter from Nowhere Glitch_in_the_Matrix

Okay, so this just happened, and I'm going to retell it as best as I can.

It's hot as balls, it's late at night. I've taken a break from my writing to watch American Gods, laying on the couch. I've pretty much disrobed, just in my boxers since it's so hot. Sorry for the ugly picture, but it matters. Any change I have is in my Jeans pocket, currently on the floor.

I got up and went to the bathroom, washed my hands, and then came into the kitchen. I grabbed some peanuts and a bowl from the pantry, and a can of soda from the refrigerator. As I walk back into the family room to sit at the table, I hear a coin hit the floor at my feet, and there, still settling, is a quarter.

I have no idea how this happened. I have no pockets in what I'm wearing, and I wouldn't put coins in my boxers even if I did. My jeans were at the far end of the couch, so a coin didn't fall from the pocket of it as I passed them, since I didn't. I can't image how a quarter would get into the pantry or somehow on a can of soda in the fridge. And if, somehow, one stuck to me as I laid on the couch, it sure survived a lot of walking before it fell off of me, and I did not feel it at all.

Bonus that is certainly just coincidence, the quarter is the 2005, Kansas state quarter, featuring a buffalo...which is one of the mysterious figures in American Gods, which is still on as I write this.

Pretty weird...

So I dropped a beer bottle but didn't break it Glitch_in_the_Matrix

It happened pretty recently, I was at a friend's place getting beer out of the refrigerator. Having so many things in my hands and being the high fuck I am, I dropped the one beer bottle I had in my hand. (It slipped cause it was a Corona slim bottle neck, fml)

I see it touch the ground and make the falling noice and then just flash to a moment when I have it in my hand and I'm picking it up from the floor. The metal cap popped off and it starring frothing (all signs that it actually broke) but the glass was intact.

Wiped the beer off the floor and finished the left over. So, what was that? I can't stop thinking about Life is Strange. Is this how people around Max feel when she reverses time and fixes it?

Tiny glitch - missing items randomly showing up Glitch_in_the_Matrix

So this is my only glitch from the past couple of years, and while it's a very small one, I really can't get my mind around how it happened.

A few weeks ago I came home from the gym, earbuds in my ears, and took them out and put them on the table. That night as I was getting ready for work, I couldn't seem to find them. No big deal and not weird; I'm pretty absentminded. I figure I'll find them the next day and grab my boyfriend's spare, identical pair. I repeat the same gesture after work - pull them out of my ears and put them on some tabletop.

The next day, yet again, I can't locate headphones. Now it's two pairs that I've lost so at this point I'm just frustrated with myself. This frustration kind of built up more and more throughout the day that, and by the time I got home that night, I was on warpath for these stupid earbuds. I came home to my boyfriend and I was absolutely bugging out - crying and shaking, having an anxiety attack about who knows what but it was manifesting itself in a desperate hunt for these lost earbuds. Both my boyfriend and I turned the apartment upside down. I searched the pockets of all my pants, sweatshirts, and coats. We searched every shelf and drawer. We went as far as to look in the refrigerator and even picked through the trash and recycling. Nothing. All my boyfriend kept saying was "these are going to turn up in a way that seems to defy reality, that's how it always goes," but I was feeling insane. I couldn't explain this feeling. It felt like someone or something was out to get me and was showing me by taking something relatively menial but that I use in my everyday life.

Anyway. Two weeks after this - this past Friday - I'm at work. I'd since bought yet another pair of headphones (again identical), and was keeping them in my work apron pocket. During my break, I take off my apron and put on my hoodie. I walk outside and put my hands in my sweatshirt pockets and there's a pair of earbuds. I couldn't believe it. I raced back inside and into the break room to make sure they weren't the pair I brought. I stuffed my hand in my apron pocket, and there were the new ones. The hoodie I was wearing that day is the one I wear to the gym almost daily. Those pockets were the first place I looked, and I looked in them pockets at least a dozen times, over many days. Of course I call my boyfriend in frantic confusion but also joy and all he says is "I told you they'd pop up inexplicably."

I know this glitch is so minor but I have truly never felt that frantic about missing something in my life. I'm generally unattached to my possessions - even expensive ones - and when they break or disappear I have a very "cest la vie" type of outlook. It feels weirdly meaningful that these items disappearing felt so important and I KNOW they were not in that pocket for the weeks prior to finding the headphones.

The partially-eaten sandwich…that wasn’t Glitch_in_the_Matrix

My first post to Reddit, so hope I'm doing this right!

About a month ago, I had the strangest experience, which I’m only now getting around to posting because I’ve been busy with the holidays.

My job is about a 10 minute drive from my house, and I have a one hour lunch break. My lunch routine at work is pretty much the same everyday. I leave work at 12:30, get home by 12:40, which gives me 40 minutes to walk my dog, make and eat my lunch (usually while watching the afternoon news). I leave home by 1:20 and return to work at 1:30. Same old same old each day.

Here’s the glitch: One day about a month ago, I came home for lunch as I always do. The only thing different was that I was in a mid-morning meeting where someone brought in an assortment of bagels and cream cheese to share. Also, a co-worker, who had celebrated her birthday the day before, brought in some left-over birthday cake to share with everyone. By my lunch hour, I had already eaten a bagel with cream cheese and larger than I should have piece of birthday cake, so I really wasn’t very hungry.

I get home for lunch at my normal time, take the dog for a quick walk and make a turkey and cheese sandwich. I take it to the couch, turn on the news, and take a bite out of the sandwich. I think to myself, “I’m really not that hungry”, but I go ahead and take a second bite. After the second bite, I decided I didn’t feel like eating the rest of the sandwich, so I put it in a baggie and in the refrigerator, with the thought that I’d just finish it for lunch the next day. No big deal. I return to work at my regular time and proceed with my day as normal.

That night I had dinner plans with a friend, but at the last minute she canceled. I was trying to decide what to make for dinner and since I was too lazy to cook, I thought I’d just finish the sandwich from lunch. I pull out the baggie from the fridge and I’m confused and in disbelief. A whole, uneaten sandwich was in the baggie; NO bites or missing parts whatsoever! I just stand there staring at it. I examine it for a minute, inspecting it very closely, but the ENTIRE sandwich was there, as if I just made it and then put it away before eating any of it!

I’ve come up with two possible explanations, though both feel unlikely to me.

The first is my subconscious mind created some kind of false memory. I made the sandwich, but before taking any bites out of it, I decided I wasn’t hungry and put it in the fridge. My mind then created the false-memory of me eating part of it first before putting it away. The reason this feel so unlikely to me though is because of just how vivid the memory is. I remember distinctly taking not one, but two bites while watching the news. I even remember my dog sitting there doing that begging stare as I took those bites. I remember stuffing a partially-eaten sandwich in the baggie.

The second possibility is that someone came into my house, ate that sandwich, then felt guilty or didn’t want me to notice the sandwich was gone, and so then made a second sandwich. This also feels unlikely. Only 2 people have a key to my house; my parents who live over an hour away, and a neighbor, who will walk my dog for me on those rare occasions when I can’t come home for lunch. I simply can’t imagine why my neighbor or parents would do such a strange thing. Yes, I’ve asked them about it, and all insist it wasn’t them. And I doubt someone would break into my place and do that with a 70 pound German Shepard guarding the house.

Also, I live alone with my dog. No roommates and nobody other than the above mentioned have keys.

I’ve had a few other unexplained experiences in my life, but they’ve centered around the death of someone close to me, and so I’ve consider those more as after death communications rather than a glitch-in-the-matrix.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Cokes at the Shanghai Public Library cafeteria Glitch_in_the_Matrix

In 2013 I was working in Shanghai, China, and my girlfriend and I would occasionally get lunch at the cafeteria in the city's main public library, because it was a short subway trip from our apartment, it served absolutely delicious food, was impeccably clean, and was heavily subsidized for the underpaid library employees and to attract patrons. So you could get a huge plate of yummy traditional Shanghainese cuisine for RMB 5, or less than a dollar. Sides were RMB 2 or 3. This was a better deal than the dirtiest hole-in-the-wall ethnic mom-and-pop restaurants. But unless it was on the employees' lunch shift, there were never more than a few other customers there.

So the glitchy thing was cans of Coca-Cola. All of the drinks other than hot tea and room temperature water were in a locked refrigerator case in the back wall of the cafeteria that you had to order at the register while you were paying, and then the cashier would call another attendant employee to unlock the case and get the drinks, sometimes several minutes after sitting down to eat. That's what we did whenever we went there, but after our first visit, two cokes would just mysteriously appear on the table where we had set our coats, bags, and umbrellas, sometime while our orders were being dished up at the service counter.

The employees generally could not care less about service, and we never we able to figure out where the cokes came from. We ordered and paid for them, but we got more from the attendant summoned by the cashier when they got around to it. When we asked those attendants where the first cokes had come from, none of them knew, they shrugged, but they also looked a little frightened to me. This happened several times. The only theory was that some industrious employee who we never saw, and never owned up to it when we asked the other staff, was getting our cokes in advance, but that would have been completely against policy and quite likely to get anyone so presumptuous in trouble. The cans were cold, too, so they had to have come from the locked fridge case.

After the second time this happened, we pointed out to the cashier that we already had cokes waiting for us where our things were, and we demanded an explanation. The cashier would look concerned and frightened, ask us whether we brought them in with us, charge us for them after we said we hadn't, but refuse to speculate on how they got there. After that, we wouldn't order any drinks but drank the cokes anyway, and nobody said a word. When either of us went to eat there by ourselves, it didn't happen.

The Shanghai Public Library since 1996 has been in this huge 24-story building, the tallest library in the world, but only the first four floors are open to the public because most of the collection was digitized on CD-ROMs while it was being built. The rest of the gargantuan tower building isn't even used for office space.

I don't know what happened. But something did. Glitch_in_the_Matrix

I woke up this morning. Not terribly unique in and of itself, but today was not like any day before.

I woke up lying across my bed as if I was tossed on the bed by somebody. My feet were hanging off the side of the bed and I was fully clothed. I don't sleep like that.

The last thing I remember was starting my evening routine. I fixed a snack consisting of two small hamburgers and a Diet Coke and grabbed my medications. I take a decongestant, an antacid and sleeping pill. I put them in one of the little cups that you get with Nyquil, and set them on the table next to my chair. Then I sat down to watch something on Netflix.

The next thing I knew it was seven and a half hours later and I am on the bed. The soda and meds were still on the table next to my chair, untouched; but the burgers were back in the bag and placed in the refrigerator.

Additionally, NONE of my normal routine was completed. The house was not locked down and the security alarm was not set. I always lock my bedroom door, but it was wide open. My normally clingy cats were hiding and I had not laid out my clothes for work before retiring to bed. Something I have done since childhood.

Other things that were amiss:

  • All of the lights in the house were on.
  • The TV and computer were both on.
  • The Air purifier was OFF. I only turn it off to change the filter.
  • The incense on my altar was burnt. I don't burn when I'm sleeping or not in the house.
  • Three books I had been searching for for quite some time were noticed on a shelf far from their designated location (I have a private library of several thousand pieces organized by subject then by author).
  • My phone was not plugged in. It is one of the first things I do when I empty my pockets, and I remember doing it when I got home.

Individually none of these things is remarkable, but collectively they make me feel uneasy. So much so that I've had to check several sources to make sure that I didn't lose an entire day. Other things that are not typical are, the drive to work was noticeably shorter (perhaps it is seasonal traffic), my coworkers seem different both physically and behaviorally. One seems to have lost a lot of weight since yesterday and the other seems to have forgotten how to do their job.

One thing that keeps popping up in my mind is that I woke up in a parallel universe. Most things feel the same, but some things seem 'Off'.

This can't be a reaction to the meds, because I still haven't taken them and I wasn't particularly fatigued. All I know it that one second I had grabbing the TV remote and the next I am waking up, fully clothed, lying across my bed and seven and half hours have passed.

I don't know if this is a Glitch or a dimensional jump or something totally different. But it is/was something.

Time Anomaly Glitch_in_the_Matrix

This never really bothered me until I found out about Glitch stories a few months ago.

It happened about six years ago. I think I was probably a freshman in high school. I randomly woke up one saturday morning and looked at my clock to see the numbers blinking at 12:00 indicating a power outage. Despite feeling tired and groggy I decided to get up and look around. I went out into my living room and it was just barely getting bright outside, enough to just be able to see from the light coming into the windows. The analogue clock was stopped at just after 5 am, so I figured it was sometime between 5 and 6 in the morning. I went tried the light switches to find that the power was still out.

After being in my living room for about a minute, I heard the printer in my basement nosily start up. The plastic mechanics loudly clattered and I could hear paper fluttering. I heard our computer power up, the refrigerator began humming again, and all the other electrical appliances in the house began clicking on. It all seemed very loud in contrast to the dead silence from before. I don't know why but the whole situation seemed very surreal. I was into lucid dreaming at the time and did a reality check to make sure this wasn't a dream. It was real.

I sort of shrugged it off and went back to bed. I woke up later that morning and went out into my living room. My mom was watching television, and the analogue clock read 8:45 or something. I asked her if there was a power outage last night and she said that it happened around 5 in the morning. My dad said the same. Apparently, all three of us were up at the same time and walking around the house, but never saw each other.

Saw something before it happened Glitch_in_the_Matrix

So where I work, which is a complex of sorts, there is a gate entrance which is the only way to get into the complex and on one side there is a building with some offices with the kitchen and on the other side Theresa another building with the other offices I work in. Well I pulled in one day and as I got out of the car I saw the custodian walking out of the gate to the trash can. I said hello to her like I normally do and asked her how her day has been going and she did the same. After the exchange I walk to the kitchen to put my lunch in the refrigerator and as I walk in the custodian was in there and she had just tied up a trash bag and was about to take it to the dumpsters. She said hello and asked how I was but I just kind of stood there dumbfounded trying to process what was happening. Still have no explanation for what happened.

I don't know why I had a hacky-sack... Glitch_in_the_Matrix

but I did. I feel like it was a base reward I got it for selling the minimal amount of fund-raiser stuff for school or something. I was probably a pre-teen, but barely if. I remember hacky-sack had just become a household word, but I wouldn't call it "popular" and frankly I could give a shit about it. But I had one, and it was rainbow-colored.
So I'm in the kitchen with this rainbow-colored hackey sack in my hand and I'm walking towards the upstairs tv room and was about to traverse the threshold when I dropped it and it hit my foot and seemed to roll a bit, but kind of just... wasn't there... even as I was looking down and immediately stooping to pick it up. But in my mind the only rational explanation was that it had rolled left of the waist-high kitchen trashcan situated near the corner and out of my immediate line of sight even though that was weird as it was a loose bag of beans (or whatever is inside a hacky-sack) and was able to do more than just form a stitched blob on the floor near my toes. I figured that maybe the force of the fall was not dissimilar from the upward force of a foot tap and was enough to move it a bit away. So, still bent over I walked forward a step to see to the left of the trashcan.
The actions of dropping, stooping, and stepping didn't take more than 3 seconds. It was a quick, "Oops, shit" to a mildy disorienting "Where the fuck?" to "Oh. it must be... nope."

So I was confused. My understanding of physics was that the general direction it WOULD have gone (if it had the momentum to move in that direction which it clearly did because it wasn't there at my foot where I thought I would find it) would have placed it to the left of the trashcan and it wasn't.
So a rapid survey spots a little space between the trashcan and the wall. It would have required a banana motion to get there and the space looked barely big enough to hide the rainbow-colored hackey sack but I know sometimes weird shit happens. I stand up and slide the waist-high,kitchen-trashcan away from the wall and lean over it. (Another 2 seconds max which puts my total at around 5 seconds and that's on the high side). Not there. So I pick up the waist-high, kitchen-trashcan and look under it because even though it was impossible to be under the trashcan I needed to check and it only took a second to lift it up. Nothing

So I look in the next room, which would have been an absurd distance and strange, but not impossible, angle to roll, Given the placement of the sliding/folding door between rooms there would have been a relatively narrow area to inspect and glancing into the next room is quick. Not there, either. So I pick up the waist-high, kitchen-trashcan out of the corner to make sure that the rainbow-colored hacky sack didn't somehow find its way to blind spots every time I moved the trashcan (which I knew was unlikely but had to check) and it wasn't there. But now the corner was bare and that was no longer an option for searching. I stand there a bit and second guess the direction I thought I saw the rainbow-colored hacky sack roll/disappear and try to find the next most reasonable answer. So aside from the removed trashcan, and the shitty sliding/folding door we had that separated the rooms there were only two pieces of furniture that were close enough to have possibly concealed it. One of those was a refrigerator that had no clearance beneath it or behind it and the other was a nice hutch of my mothers that had more than enough clearance. That was my only other option.
It was daytime and the lights were on. Between the light from outside and the lights on the ceiling fan the kitchen was more than adequately lit. You could see under the hutch, it was dark, but not like pitch black. I didn't see anything and this perturbed me enough to go get a flashlight. I went under the hutch with a flashlight and I reached under the hutch feeling in all corners and effectively cleaning the floor with my arm.
It was gone... like vanished. Now... I'd run out of feasible, improbable, and perceivable impossible possibilities. I'm losing my cool over this rainbow-colored hacky sack. I get my Mom and I'm explaining to her that this doesn't make sense. I don't know what I expected her to do. It's a hacky sack and if prior to its disappearance I wasn't that interested in the hacky sack then mom Mom wasn't going to be at all interested. She never said she didn't believe me but asked me what I want her to do about it... I didn't, but man I needed something grounding. So after an intense search of what amounts to about 6'xx6' section I realized that I had spent too much time looking for this thing I didn't really care about, accepted that I just wasn't going to find the answer to it's whereabouts, told my mom we had "gremlins," then I went and played Final Fantasy VI or something.

I realize this story is mundane compared to a lot of the stories I read on here but I occasionally think about that rainbow-colored hacky sack and wonder what the hell happened.

Something snatched the remote control at the WORST time possible! Glitch_in_the_Matrix

Okay so first of all this is a throwaway account. Just so you know.

There are a few kids I watch ages 2 and 4, both girls. Okay so my in opinion the TV is a wonderful invention. If I have to run to the bathroom or check my phone I simply put on Nick Jr and Kaboom! No little kids pounding on the bathroom door and trying to put their grubby fingers on my phone. Unfortunately something is definitely effing with me, although technically I guess this could be classified as a glitch.

Fast forward. The 4 year old (Let's call her Mary) was screaming and throwing a tantrum because I refused to give her candy before lunch (as the parents requested. They said NO candy.) So I put on the TV for the two year old who was dozing on the couch, and put the remote control on the kitchen counter. I carry Miss Screaming Four Year Old upstairs for a timeout in her room and shut the door.

I come back downstairs to turn on the cartoon channel and the remote is gone. Mind you, these kids live in a 1200 sq ft. townhome and there is nowhere for the black remote to hide on the white countertops. I asked the two year old (who walks, talks and is potty trained) if she took it.

She shakes her head sleepily and continues to stare at the TV. I am also fully aware that two year olds are not tall enough to reach kitchen counters and besides, I was literally carrying Mary with one hand and setting down the remote with the other so I know SHE didn't take it.

Like a madwoman, I comb the kitchen and turn the house upside down looking for this goshdarn remote. The first thing the parents do is plop down in front of the TV when they get home so what exactly am I supposed to tell them? After spending an hour and a half searching (I made them lunch, let them play and run around as usual, but every spare instance I would continue searching) I still couldn't find it.

It got to the point where I started checking weird places like the refrigerator and the silverware drawer. At one point I'm pretty sure I checked the bathroom too. I check Mary's room in case it was somehow up there but it wasn't.

The parents come home, I tell them I lost the remote and they honestly don't seem too surprised. They say it's fine, they think it will turn up so I go home.

The following week I go to watch the kiddies again and ask the parents if they have ever found the remote. They say "Mary found it." I ask her where and she replies "I found it in my toy chest."

WTF

Pixelated premonition Glitch_in_the_Matrix

This is my first post, but I have been on reddit for a while. I was originally going to post this in Supernatural, but I think it fits much better here.

I work in a clinical laboratory in a hospital. There are several different departments within our lab. I work in the microbiology department. This is only important because micro (and the adjacent pathology lab) are the only two departments that are completely secluded from the rest of the lab. The micro lab, for instance, is the only other department (besides pathology) that is an actual room of it's own with a door that is kept closed at all times.

The micro lab is set up with a "bar/work bench" in the center that you are able to walk all the way around. Opposite, and surrounding the center "bar" are tables with computers, work desks (for paperwork), an area to set up gram stains, and several refrigerators where we store various media as well as specimens.

The night that my experience took place, I was sitting at a computer that was next to the gram staining area, which was next to a large refrigerator. The refrigerator is right next to the only door that allows anyone to enter or leave.

I work the swing or PM shift (2:30pm-11:00pm) and after 3pm, I am the only lab tech that works in micro. This is important to note, as when the possible glitch I experienced occurred, there was absolutely no one else in the microbiology lab except for me.

So, on the night my possible glitch occurred (about two or so months ago), I was finishing up some monotonous/boring work on one of the computers, alone, in the microbiology lab. It was around 10:30pm and I was fairly tired from a full, busy day processing specimens.

While the work I was doing was fairly monotonous and/or boring, I felt somewhat comfortable and in my "zone". (I mention this since other times inexplicable events have occurred, I have often had the same sort of mindset-kind of on auto-pilot and not really thinking too much about anything else other than the task at hand.)

The particular computer I was using that night, as I mentioned earlier, was directly adjacent to the gram staining area-which is right next to the large(st) refrigerator, which is right next to the door to enter/leave. Again, there is a "bar/work bench" area in the center of the lab of which me, the computer, the gram staining area, the refrigerator and the door are opposite of, or facing.

So, there I was on my computer, sort of mindlessly doing my work, when something caught my peripheral vision. I looked up, and for about two seconds I literally saw the image of two legs walking from the door, making a sharp left turn (towards me), walking halfway between the location of the refrigerator and gram stain station, and turning once more to "face" the "bar/work bench" area.

When I say I saw "legs," I mean that I only saw a fuzzy sort of pixelated image from about the thighs down. The legs were wearing light blue pants and white shoes.

I remember shaking my head and even saying out loud to myself, "you need to get more sleep," when, not even two minutes after I saw the legs, a co-worker from a different department of the lab comes in. She walked from the door, making a sharp left-walking towards me-stopped halfway between the refrigerator and gram stain station, and the turned to face the "bar/work bench" in the center. She had on light blue scrub pants and white sneakers. Her movements were the exact movements I had just watched the pixelated legs perform.

I have never experienced anything quite like that before. I used to be a hardcore skeptic about almost everything that had no scientific/rational explanation...however, over the years, and more recently, I have had just too many inexplicable events happen to brush them off as just my imagination.

What do you think I saw? A few caveats: I DO suffer from mental illness-HOWEVER-I have never been psychotic or delusional (I have clinical depression, OCD, and ADHD-which I am medicated for). I had also been practicing meditation regularly when this incident occurred. Meditation seems to be a harbinger of strange sorts of events occurring in my life (coincidence, synchronicity etc.) and I DO tend to hallucinate at times while I meditate (I have synesthesia, so I had thought it was related to that... ... ...I only say this because at the time of my experience, I was in sort of a mindless daze akin to meditation... .... ...that would be my only rational explanation...)

P.S. Please excuse any formatting errors or otherwise, this is my first post ever.

2 recent glitches Glitch_in_the_Matrix

1: I was going passed the Jose's BEEF Burritos. I was considering buying one of them but when I walked by it again it was Chicken & Cheese. Same brand so I wasn't confusing anything.

2: I was talking some pizza out of the refrigerator. Some sauce feel off of it and landed at the bottom. I promptly cleaned it up but the stain suddenly dried up as if it was there for over a week!

Disappearing and reappearing screw. Glitch_in_the_Matrix

I never thought I would ever have to post here, since I either don't believe most stories or i think people are just remembering things wrong. It's kinda insignificant but this is my story. My glitch happened Friday, when me and a worker were fixing a refrigerator. We were installing a new temperature control and we removed 2 screws. My coworker was on his knees in front of the fridge and i was standing behind him, looking over his shoulder. He went to put the first of 2 screws back in but he dropped it and we both watched it roll under the fridge. He was feeling around under it but couldn't find the screw. He was about to get up so we could pull the fridge out, when suddenly we heard a clink and i saw the screw bounce off of his pocket knife and on to the floor next to him. I was confused because I saw the screw go under the fridge and the other one was still sitting on the shelf. He looked up at me, just as confused and was like "did you do that?" I said no and he said "but I saw the screw go under the fridge" and i said "I know me too!..." He tried to shrug it off and keep working but he kept looking up at me, asking "if I was messing with him". I wasn't messing with him, I was just as confused as he was. We pulled out the fridge because he was positive I dropped a different screw on him on the original one would still be under there. Needless to say, there was no screw under the fridge. He still thinks I did it, somehow. I really don't know what to think about the whole thing. My brain is telling me there a logical explanation and that the screw never rolled under the fridge but my eyes saw what they saw and its not like it was just my eyes, we both saw it roll under there...

TL/DR a Co worker dropped a screw and we both watched it roll under the refrigerator. A second later, the same screw mysteriously bounced off his knife and on the floor next to him. There was no screws under the fridge, when we pulled out out.

How was it closed? Glitch_in_the_Matrix

So,oddly enough,I just had a weird experience with food.I was in the mood to make spaghetti last week.I bought some garlic, used some, and put it back in the refrigerator.Nothing unusual.A week went by, and then today I was in the mood to use it again.Usually I only cook on the weekends so I had not touched it since. But this time when I used it the jar was sealed shut as if it had never been opened! There was no garlic missing from the last time.I'm sure another one wasn't bought (I'm the only one who eats it) So what happened to the one I used? Its just a small thing but it definitely didnt seem normal.
