Our kid is taking cefprozil liquid suspension and it says it needs refrigerated. We accidentally left it out of the refrigerator for 6 hrs, is it okay and still effective?

Wife has extreme foot pain and we are getting nowhere with her PCP. AskDocs

Hello, I’m coming here out of complete desperation. Starting about two months ago my wife has began having foot pain right on the ball of her feet that spreads across her entire front part of her foot. The pain then was most an annoyance for her then. Now when an attack comes on, it brings her to tears. This is someone who has SLE, Type 1 Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, and a host of other long names disorders that put her into pain. When I see her begin to cry I realize she is in pain on an extreme level.

This issue is aggregated when she walks even a few feet to the bathroom or to the refrigerator. The pain mysteriously wakes her up right around dawn each day for no discernible reason. Her mornings lately have been spent with her first one or two hours crying. Oddly enough, right before bed, is flares up again. We’ve been trying to keep ibuprofen and Tylenol in her system every six hours to give her some relief, but it doesn’t do much. We’ve also been trying CBD oil and it can’t really break through the pain either.

The only things that I can think of that brought this on were that in August we got a dog and she went from very little activity to walking the dog daily. She insists his isn’t it because she wears Brooks shoes that have excellent support.

At this point, her PCP has tested her for Gout and has referred her for an X-RAY. The doctor checked vitals and commented that her feet had good color and her heartbeat made her feel that there was good circulation. The PCP ruled out neuropathy from Type 1 based on the examination and because her family history shows that Type 1s often don’t have complications (when her uncle who was a life long Type 1 passed away, the person performing the autopsy couldn’t believe he was Type 1 because his insides looked like that of a normal person).

From my research, the pain seems to be around the metatarsal joints but I don’t want to self diagnose her. I’m begging for any strings to pull on, because I just want her to have pain relief. We’ve tried ice and heat to no avail and we’re not sure what else to try.

Continuous phlegm help? AskDocs

I'm 25, 190lbs; 5'6. From California. I've had this problem for about over a year maybe longer. Everyday I've had to spit out phlegm and I know this isn't normal. When I get sick especially I end up spitting out three times as much phlegm out. I was just sick recently from inhaling dust off a dusty refrigerator I was helping move. That caused my throat to be super dry and then a week later I got a cold and my throat was killing me. I had so much phlegm I was spitting it out every 30 min. I've come down from being sick, but still have a dry cough and am still having to spit phlegm. In the morning it's worse. I live in the South Bay and with the Santa Rosa fires; the smoke hasn't helped my throat at all. The smoke has seemed to go away for the most part.

What can be the problem? My diet has been pretty average; I've stopped consuming most dairy products (since I've heard that's a main cause) except for cheese along with my meals but this minimal.

Need Advice Regarding Foot Injury AskDocs

Hello,

Here's my situation. A week ago, I was trying to make room for food in the refrigerator freezer when a rock hard frozen bag of chili slide out and landed right smack on my bare foot. The area of impact felt right in the toe joints. The item wasn't that heavy, but it was hard and definitely hurt.

I never got any swelling and noticed slight bruising the next day. On Sunday, I was felt pain free, walking normally, and forgot about the injury. It started hurting again on Monday. Then pain free on Tuesday. I convinced myself that I didn't break anything and went walking for an hour with no difficulty or pain. Yesterday, I was shocked to see the bruising was much worse and had spread to other toes.

Today, the pain is really back and the bruising looks more widespread. Now I'm worried I may have broke a toe joint bone which can't heal without medical treatment. It makes no sense to me while I would be completely pain free one day and then it get much worse.

Is this something I should go see a doc asap about? Problem is my coworker just had a death in the family so I can't leave today or tomorrow. I could go to urgent care after work but that will cost me $100. What would an urgent care do anyways if there is a break?

Food poisoning? Felt really sick and just soiled my bedding a bit AskDocs

I am a male in my 20's, currently taking Antibiotics (Doxycycline) for a recurring Chlamydia infection. I don't recall having issues with antibiotics in the past, and today would mark the 6th day (out of 10 days) I've been on this medication. I generally have issues with motion sickness and sleep deprivation issues.

Yesterday evening: - Baked batches of bacon at 400F, 20+ minutes each batch - Had raw bacon in a pan between batches; I put it in the refrigerator so it wouldn't go bad

  • Instead of washing the pan, I poured some water into it and boiled/simmered it for a while, hoping it would kill the harmful microbes. I then cooked some instant rice on it, simmering at medium heat. I think the 'disinfection' process occurred for 5-15 minutes.
  • Took a nap and woke up really dizzy; I figured it was just dehydration as I ate a lot of bacon so I had a lot of water.
  • Ate some frozen fruit and felt better, as it got rid of the dizziness for a bit.
  • Went to sleep after brushing my teeth etc. at 2am or so

Today: - Woke up at 2pm, felt really sick (mainly dizzy with a dry mouth) so I kept waking up and drinking water, then getting back to bed. - I couldn't really stay up as I felt really dizzy - Bowel movements were not too strange - I had a lot of water, including a really cold bottle of water and went back to bed - In between naps, I woke up and had what I thought was flatulence. It ended up squirting a bit of wet feces onto my bedding (thankfully I have a mattress protector too...). I wiped it up and the soiled bed sheet is currently in the washer at a high heat setting...

After that jolt, I got up and went to the washroom. Really watery bowel movement, slimy and light yellow. No blood.

I don't feel as sick now after that jolt, but I'm still dizzy... It's getting late and I should be taking my first daily dose (2 per day) of the antibiotic soon. I ate a granola bar too.

This doesn't feel as bad as having the flu, but I'm really dizzy and I feel some more diarrhea coming up. It's late in the evening (Sunday) and the medical clinics are closed.

Does this seem like food poisoning? What should I do at this point? My mouth is dry and I'm thirsty as well.

I kneed help AskDocs

Sorry for the horrible pun, but I'm on a lot of pain medication and I'm pretty stressed. This is going to be a long story. I need help with both my injury and the situation I am in. I will do a TIFU style with a TL;DR at the end.

I injured my knee at work July 27th and have been fighting workman's comp, and as of today, my doctors. While lifting a heavy shelf in a walk in refrigerator I twisted my knee. And by heavy I mean, a fully stocked produce shelf upwards of 600lbs. Anyways, there was no loud pop, no instant pain, I just lifted half the shelf, pivoted it, did my cleaning, and went about my day. As the day went on, my knee hurt more and more. It got to the point of barely being able to walk. I went home, assuming it was the weather (monsoon season in Phoenix, AZ) or something equally trivial. Wake up the next day, and the pain is worse. So, I go in, file a claim, and thus begins the uphill battle. First, I went to urgent care. They did the standard, 'Does this hurt? Does that hurt? Okay, lets do x-rays.' The x-rays showed no signs of damage. They suggested if I really was in pain to go to the hospital and have them do an MRI.

So, I drive across the street to my local ER and sign in, wait the couple of hours, and get called back. In triage they do another set of x-rays. They came back clean too. The ER nurse practitioner comes into my room and tells me the same thing I found out 3 hours ago. I ask her about an MRI, and it turns out I'm at the one hospital I've ever been to without an MRI on site. So she gives me a referral to an orthopedic specialist, a prescription for 12 oxycodone, crutches and a knee brace.

About a week later, I go in to see the orthopedic. He tells me they don't have an MRI. He also informs me that because I have no mobility issues with my knee that the brace and crutches are useless and only use them when I feel necessary. Because I'm in pain he gives me 40 (20 days worth with the way he wrote it) hydrocodone, tells me to toss the brace, and that I'll get a call when workman's comp approves the knee MRI. Another two weeks roll by before I get a call about the MRI, the pain is worse, I'm running low on hydrocodone, and workman's comp hasn't paid me a cent. I go in on August 21, get the MRI done, get a copy of the disk, and I'm all excited I will finally have answers and proof of injury so I can get my back pay. Silly me. Appointment is scheduled for September 7th (yesterday).

Last weekend the pain got so bad I couldn't even make it to the bathroom on my own. I had no more pain meds and half a week to go before my appointment. I went back to ER. I go in and get a very different treatment than I got my first visit. I explain my situation, that I'm out of pain meds, when my appointment is, and ask them to help me. After a couple hours they take me back to triage and I hear the nurses at the station talking about me. They are saying how I'm not nearly pale enough and my BP and HR are too low for me to be in pain (138 over 86, 116 bpm). Normally I run 20 lower than those stats. After another half hour of stewing the doctor finally comes back. I give him my situation and he says, "Look. I went over your pharma report and your fills for narcotics make sense. They all occurred after your injury. I'll give you another script for 12 percoset, but you need to make them last til your appointment." Okay? Sure, great, that's what I wanted, but why the harsh treatment? Next door you have a girl that fainted from anemia because she refused her pills, but I get scolded while you're all fawning over her? Whatever.

I go home, drug myself and sleep more than 3 hours for the first time in 4 days.

Yesterday, I took my MRI disk in and saw my orthopedic. Nothing. He sees nothing on my MRI. I've stared at this thing for weeks, and there's several spots I find questionable, but he finds nothing. I'm broken. I ask him what I can do at this point, how am I going to prove to workman's comp that I'm in pain, ect. ect. He tells me he believes I'm in pain, but there's nothing he can do. So he gives me a referral to a pain management specialist. Well, at least he believes me unlike the ER. I go to the front desk to schedule the appointment, and hey, the pain management specialist's PA has an opening the next day (today)! Thank God not everything is shit. Silly me.

Today I go in and I'm so excited to be not in pain that I show up 30 minutes early. Appointment at 1:30, I show up at 1:00, all is well in the world. I sign that my info is up to date, fill out paperwork for the new doctor, and still 20 minutes early. At 2:10, the magic of excitement has faded when I'm finally called into the room to take stats (86 over 58, didn't catch bpm). By 2:30 the frustration has completely replaced all excitement. At 2:40 the PA walks in and greets me. We go over my pain level (3 with percocet and resting, 6 without and resting, 9 while walking without) do a few flexes of the knee to see what hurts, he compares my knees to see I have no swelling. Then it goes downhill fast.

I ask him what we can do since nothing is seen on the MRI. "Well, I can't give you an more narcotics. You have filled scripts from too many different doctors recently. Physical therapy won't really do you any good since walking is what causes your pain to flare. A steroid injection won't do anything since you have no signs of arthritis or inflammation. So, the best I can do is give you a topical anti-inflammatory cream." What the actual fuck? I lost my composure. I ask him, if an injection won't work because I don't have swelling, how will an anti-inflammatory creme help me? "Well, it probably won't, I'm just grasping at straws." What?! So, I can't have pain meds because I followed a doctor that works with you's orders, you won't try any conservative care like physical therapy, and you want to give me something you admit wont help me? "Well, we can try an injection to numb the pain nerve in your knee and see if that helps." That sounds promising, what will that do? How often will I need this shot to keep the pain away, how much does it hurt? "Well, if it works you would only need it the once. We would then go in and burn off the nerve ending so you couldn't feel the pain anymore." That sounds counterproductive. Follow me for a moment. Lets assume I am in real pain. "Yes, I believe you." So that leads us to believe there is something wrong, just it wasn't found on the MRI, right? "That is a possibility." And if we burn off the nerve, and I'm not in pain, I won't be going easy on my knee, thus making the problem worse. "Well, yes that is something that can happen." No. Other options. "Well, we could have you get a second opinion with a different orthopedic specialist in our facility." Thank you! Lets do that.

So now I have an appointment on September 14th, but I come here with two problems. The first being, I feel that this image of my left knee shows a tear in my outer ligament. The second being, if everyone is treating me like an addict and won't believe I'm in pain, how in the hell do I get workman's comp to believe me?

TL;DR Male 25 Left knee injury since July 27, 2017 5'11" 240lbs white Phoenix, AZ I am on (for my injury) oxycodone 5-325 1-2/6 hours, hydrocodone 5-325 1-2/12 hours, and ibuprofen 600mg 3/day For everyday use I am on duloxetine DR 60mg 1/day, hydroxyzine HCL 10mg 4/day, and quetiapine 25mg 1-2/day Left side MRI capture I am willing to send the full MRI to medical professionals, but I don't want to just post it for anyone on the web to get my information.

16yr M Diarrhea for 1 week AskDocs

I am a 16 year old male that has had diarrhea for over a week now. I can only think of three possible causes of this. 1) I just got off of a medication called Lexapro that cause me to go through some withdrawals for about a day (diarrhea started right after this). 2) My water filter broke on my refrigerator causing me to use my tap for water. IDK if this could cause this but I have read that sudden shifts to unknown water can cause diarrhea. 3) I have insomnia and I haven't been sleeping hardly at all over the past week and a half.

All of these things started around the same time as the diarrhea. I am going on a trip with my dad to the Bahamas on July 7 that we have been saving for all year (we don't have much money) and I just didn't want this to ruin our trip with me constantly trying to find a bathroom every 45 minutes. I'm going to be going on a BRAT diet today and only drink Gatorade and water from now on until this clears up. If you know of anything that might make my recovery process faster, I know me (and my sore asshole) would really appreciate it.

Is it safe to store antibiotic pills in the refrigerator? AskDocs

Hi all. My mother sleeps with a CPAP machine and her doctor prescribes her antibiotics occasionally to deal with the infections that she sometimes gets from the machine. She generally has a new prescription ever 4-6 months or so, and I just discovered that she has been storing her medication in her refrigerator.

I'm just wondering if storing amoxicillin or augmentin pills in the refrigerator for months on end might have any effect on their efficacy? My mom is the kind of person who would do this based on an old wives' tale, so I doubt that she bothered to be sure it was safe beforehand.

Taken Effexor 2 days; feeling weird and not sure if I should continue AskDocs

Age: 33 Sex: M HT: 6'3" WT: 350 Race: White Medical Issues: Anxiety Medications: Effexor XR 75 mg, Clonazopam, Lotrel

I've taken the medicine 2 times; today should be the 3rd. The first two days I was exhausted and had some serious brain fog. The first night having sex was difficult, but this could definitely have been all in my head because I'm paranoid about sexual issues with these types of drugs. I was able to orgasm, but not while fully hard, but again, not sure if this was the medicine or all in my head.

I notice I am getting hot easily, even in my refrigerator of an office. Last night I woke up at 3am to pee, which isn't abnormal, but it took me well over an hour to fall back to sleep--that is definitely abnormal.

This morning I find that I woke up feeling good, but I still have some brain fog and also feel jittery. I drink no caffeine, so there's no other cause for the jittery sensation.

At this point I'm wondering if I should discontinue use of this medication. I can see promise, but I don't know if the side effects are worth it. I live in a hot and humid climate; I don't need to be hotter. My wife and I have a very active sex life, which keeps my spirits up and is important to us both, so I don't want to risk that.

Formerly I was on Viibryd (4 years ago) and got to a point where I could come off of it. It worked well for me, but it is also over $200/month, so I was looking for a cheaper solution that would work similarly.

I think I ingested rotten brown salad juice. Am I going to die? AskDocs

Age: 26 Sex: Male Height: 5'10 Weight 220lbs Race: Caucasian Duration of complaint: today Location: TN. USA Medications: Dexamethasone, Fludrocortisone, Atenolol

I drank a soda and towards the end I noticed there was a brown syrupy juice on the side and some had moved to my lips. I went back to the door of the refrigerator where I got it and I found that someone had forgotten one of those salad bags you find at Walmart. That brown sludge from the forgotten rotten salad had spilled and covered my drink. Could I get listeria or ecoli from this? What should I do?

Possible nerve damage to thumb/hand? AskDocs

Around 3 weeks ago I fell and landed awkwardly (and hard) against the corner of the refrigerator. The area between and including my thumb and forefinger of my right hand took the brunt of the impact.

Ever since this accident I have felt no sensation to the area upon applying pressure, occasionally it will tingle as though I have 'pins and needles' but nothing else. I've tried applying pain to the area with various items but no matter how hard I press, I cannot feel anything.

Ordinarilly I wouldn't be too worried, however, it is beginning to affect my grip and a general feeling that I'm not actually holding anything with my right hand when I actually am.

Any help/advice is most appreciated.

Possible thyroid issue? AskDocs

I am 24 & Female. I've been having these issues for years but have recently started putting them all together. A lot of these issues could also be attributed to other things so I've brushed them off. I do plan on calling our doctor but thought I'd get your (collective) opinion as well.

I have been having hair loss for a few years but it has gotten crazy the last year or so. Now, I have a 1 year old so I attributed a lot of it to post-parting hair loss but he's closer to 2 than 1 now. And I'm talking handfuls of hair. The shower drain has to be regularly snaked and I find it everywhere! I've even found it in the refrigerator and yes, I know how gross that is. If I run my hands through my hair, a clump comes out. Frankly, I have no idea how I'm not bald.

Fatigue. Oh the fatigue! I'm so tired all the time. Again, I have a toddler so I'm sure a lot of it is from that. But I find myself needing to take a nap everyday to get through the day.

Heart rate. Now I had an echo and a chest x-Ray about 2 months ago (unrelated reason) and everything was kosher. But if I stand too suddenly (or at all) I can feel my heart beat in my head (sometimes it hurts), my vision blacks out, and it beats so hard in my chest that it borderline hurts. Of course it freaks me the heck out and that doesn't help my heart rate either.

Hot flashes. These are pretty recent. Maybe within the last month? The instant I wake up, I feel like I'm on fire. The heat is so intense! I also have been waking up drenched in sweat. I thought maybe it was the change in heart rate from sleeping to waking, but now I'm not sure.

Can't think. My brain is so "foggy" for lack of a better word. I have an incredibly hard time keeping on a single train of thought and often my thought just slips away AS I'M TALKING ABOUT IT. It drives me crazy and I feel like I'm losing my mind. I attributed it to "mom brain" but maybe not.

Random symptoms: I've been peeing a lot lately. More than normal for me, even having had a baby. I've lost 2.5 pounds this weekend and I have changed literally nothing.

One of my parents has Hashimoto's and there is a long history of diabetes in my family (for whatever that's worth).

All that to say, I'm pretty certain that I'm not going through menopause at 24 so could it be thyroid related?

Thank you for your time! Apologies for formatting.

Accidental glass-pipet stick (decedent was positive for Hep C) AskDocs

I'm a 23 year old male who currently works as a post mortem forensic toxicologist. I was working on an extraction and was accidentally stuck with a glass pipet tip on my left index finger.

The heart blood samples I was working with were treated with HCl and methylene chloride prior to the incident, and spun down in a centrifuge to give me two distinct layers. I was using the glass pipet in conjunction with a vacuum in order aspirate the top aqueous layer when the tip broke. As I was trying to replace the tip, my hand slipped and the broken tip punctured my left index finger. Since this was a workers comp issue, I immediately went to the ER and was started on HIV prophylactic medications. I'm currently supposed to follow up with Infectious Disease every week until the regimen is finished.

I was doing a batch run of about 20 cases when this happened. I've confirmed in the case histories that one of the decedents was on an antiretroviral and that another had confirmed Hep C. The Hep C case was accessioned last month (July 18th) and the accident happened two days ago (August 10th). The autopsy specimens were basically sitting in the storage refrigerator for three weeks until I did my extraction. Nevertheless, I'm worried that this might be cause for concern. What do you all think?

Question about urine analysis AskDocs

Hi. I was asked to have three separate urine samples from three days to go for analysis, and I am going to do them three days in a row so on the third I can go to the hospital and drop them there as I was asked to. But I am unsure about how long you can store urine before you go and drop it for analysis. For example, I'm going to start tomorrow, so I'll have one then but will only take it for analysis on thursday. Is that okay?

Also, should I store it in the refrigerator? Thanks.

Help I shot my girlfriend and I with an air-powered bb gun AskDocs

So I have an airgun that shoots at around 410 fps (Umarex XBG). I bought it with my parents to use for target practice/self defense. It is powered by CO2 so when there are no bbs loaded, it shoots out air.

I was being careless yesterday, as I was improperly playing with the gun. I did not realize there were bbs in the clip, because I shot my pillow and nothing came out but air. I assumed the gun was unloaded which is something you should never do. I then proceeded to shoot "air" at my girlfriends leg from about 7 feet away, and asked if she felt it. She said no so I moved a foot closer (6ft) and shot again and she jumped on my bed and said it hurt. I apologized and tried to comfort her by saying "It doesnt hurt that bad, here I'll shoot myself" and I shot myself in the hand from about a foot away.

We're both 16. She was shot in her right thigh on her right side 6 inches above her knee (nothing but fat). I was shot on the inside of my left hand (my left palm) in between my ring knuckle and pinky knuckle (I didn't hit any bone, I can move my hand around 100% but it hurts).

The wounds bled for a few minutes (we ran them under cold water and applied pressure). They then have been (very) slowly bleeding until this morning, when we took the bandaids off and scabs formed.

The bbs are made of steel and copper plated (4.5mm spheres). I have put a magnet up to my hand and I'm sure the bb is in my hand. I am 80% sure theres also a bb in her thigh but it could be too deep for the cheap refrigerator magnet to reach.

My parents have understood that it is an accident and even though they didn't tell me to, I threw away my bb gun since no good can really come of it. Her mom however is very strict with almost every aspect of her life. Over the past few months I have gained her mom's trust and she loves me, although I am scared that she will disown me once I tell her.

I have read that after a week the bbs will have risen to the surface and will be (painfully) able to be removed. However I'd really love for her to go to an emergency room so she can be numbed and the bb properly removed and the wound stitched.

What I'm asking is how can I get her some ER care without parental knowledge?

TL;DR: A GUN IS ALWAYS LOADED

Dad eats an ungodly amount of food. AskDocs

Is there something wrong with my father? Here's some info, he is 160lbs, 53 years old, smokes cigars infrequently as well as coke. In one day he eats more than me (19) my mom (49) and brother(15) do in 5 days, throughout a 12 hour window he will empty an entirely stocked refrigerator go out buy more food and empty it again. What the fuck is wrong with him? He also craves sugar constantly anything sugary, artificial juices, pop, candy, as well as salty stuff, popcorn with lots of butter, chips, nuts a buffet of unhealthy shit, and somehow he has no medical issues that we know of. His last doctors visit was ages ago maybe 3-4 years. He also vomits frequently for whatever reason im not sure why.

Dizzy past 2+ days AskDocs

24, male, 250 pounds.

Went out on a boat, got decent sunburn (adding anything that may be relevant), I first noticed the dizziness when getting off the boat the 2nd time. It has lasted the past 48+ hours, I feel, almost drunk, but not any of the positive effects, just dizzy. It's pretty extreme, it feels like bursts, they are more noticable when moving. It sort of works up over a couple seconds to make me lightheaded at times, then back to just dizzy.

I read it could be possible when coming off a cruise ship, but I was on a boat, about 15 feet - 20 feet, and for roughly 1 hour total.

I grew up around boats, and have never had this problem before, granted, it has been 2 years since being on one.

I did hit my head at one point, but it wasn't hard at all, on my forehead. Maybe like passively shutting a refrigerator door, is the force I hit my head with. I really do not think that is the issue, but would rather give too many details than not enough.

I also took a cold shower, in case I had a heatstroke, and it seemed to get worse while in there (when bending over - specifically). Any ideas? Thanks.

Not really sure it helps, but I would compare the dizziness to an OD of Buspar (I don't get dizzy often, so I don't have much to compare it to.)

My face and hands feel like I've just gotten out of a pool and then walked into a refrigerator. Or like my bones are made of ice and the cold is radiating into my skin. My fingers feel cold to the touch but my face feels warm. Sometimes it also tingles. It's worst on the left side of my face (on my left cheek close to my nose, the corner of my mouth, and my nose). It's also worse in my right hand than my left (I'm right handed if that's relevant).

Any insights you can give me would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

I'm 19 years old with black mold halfway up four of the walls and no health insurance. Should I give up on the idea of being healthy? AskDocs

I'm a 19 year old male who grew up in California in a house with trash, dirty laundry, broken furniture and newspaper stacked to the ceiling. My mother has been a hoarder since at least 1988 which I don't want to go into too much here. In my freshman year of high school, I started losing my hair and experiencing symptoms I now know are because of black mold. I got a job stocking groceries the day after graduation and then quit two months later because I could no longer keep up my hygiene because the hose outside wouldn't put out more than a slow drip. Since then, I've probably left the house about five times because I've never had a friend or anything that I would need to go outside for. I was always warned not to try to clean the house because my mother doesn't like her things thrown out but about a month ago, I finally got sick of it and started clearing everything out of the area next to the kitchen and found that the wall next to the refrigerator was covered in thick, gooey black mold. I researched it and found that it led to things like cancer, balding and the hibernating that I did all throughout high school. I continued to find that the newspaper, cardboard, laundry etc. that had covered the kitchen floor for years was black and muddy with mold. The refrigerator had been leaking from the rear for years and now the mold was up that wall, the one next to it and the two bathroom walls that had the toilet, the sink and the tub on it. Today, after more than a month of taking things out into the yard and putting trash in trash bags, laundry in laundry bags, mail in mail bins and newspaper in newspaper bins, the house almost looks normal. Now, I'm left with just about everything that black mold can do to you and because my life has never had order in it and I've lived my life as less of a person and more of an object that takes up space and eats my mother's food, I never got my affairs in order enough to even think about health insurance. I'm not trying to blame anybody else for my mistakes. I know I should have been more responsible. As you probably guessed, my mother isn't interested in getting rid of the mold in her home so soon I'll be moving out onto the street where I'll be safe from breathing it in but the problem is I'll still be left with my body. I've read that most physicians aren't familiar enough with mold exposure to treat its residual effects so I would need to go to someone in Los Angeles who specializes in environmental medicine. So I'd like to ask if I have any hope of getting treatment. If not, is the life of sickness I have ahead of me worth living or would suicide be my best course of action?

Important concern regarding MRI safety AskDocs

Hello! Thank you for reading. Would like some help about a concern I've been having.

So, a few months ago, I was sharpening a steak knife and accidentally cut myself across the left index finger tip shortly after sharpening. There was a clear grey residue across the cut, which I immediately thoroughly washed in a sink. The cut did draw blood, but was not deep, and had completely healed in about a day with no need for a bandage.

The knife in question does seem to be ferrous, and responds to refrigerator magnets.

My question is, does this mean I can no longer receive an MRI if needed? Should I bring this up to doctors/make an official note of it on medical records? Can the iron have moved from my finger to more sensitive areas, such as the brain or eyes?

If I went into an MRI with this being the case, is there a significant chance I would die? Are there other health-related consequences to this that I should watch out for? Where could I find more information on this subject?

Thank you so much for your help.
