Unable to interact with certain items in multiplayer. 7daystodie

Every time I host a game and invite my friends they encounter a bug where they can't open things like storage containers, forges, campfires, refrigerators, etc. I've experienced it myself. Is there any fix for this? Is it a known issue?

[ rant ] sigh... A16 Feels even more Alpha than A15 did. [PC - A16] 7daystodie

First off, I really hate complaining. I don't do it myself that often unless I feel like it really needs to be said. Given that I've dumped a lot of hours into this game and now I feel like I'm wanting to walk away from it... something needs to be said.

Alpha 16 brought some much needed changes to the game. However, it also brought some definitely un-needed changes.

Here's some quick ones off the top of my head:

  • All Points of Interest now have a circle cut out around them, and they never match the terrain. Feels like you're entering a snow globe every time you get near one.
  • Sleeping Zombies are inconsistent. Some never wake, and about 50% of the zombies don't even make any noise now, so your chances of being startled and or dying very quickly are quite high when entering buildings.
  • Zombie hits 90% of the time result in a stun on the first hit. It's impossible to defend yourself, when the chance of being stunned is almost 100%, despite not being able to hear them sneaking up behind you.
  • If you like your house/base, you can keep it. That is, until you go off exploring for the day. After repairing our base for the 4th time, completely with reinforced concrete and the v3 Vault doors, came back to find that we had no chests with food left, all the refrigerators had been destroyed. All the doors were destroyed. All the cabinets from the prior house had been almost all destroyed, part of the stairs to the upstairs and some of the floor had been destroyed, and the outside wall of the house was swiss cheese. Furthermore, I built a day 7 bunker about a klick from the house. 12 x 12 blocks, of iron bars and reinforced concrete pillars. No door, only a hatch in the floor so that there wasn't an easy way in or out. Left it and came back after 2 in game days. Half of it had been destroyed. Other than torches on the outside, literally nothing there to gain by destroying it. Zombies simply walked near it, and attacked it.
  • torches take an act of congress to get them to sit flush with a wall when placed.
  • no forge / workbench / cement mixer can be moved once placed. This is incredibly frustrating.
  • Animal spawns are slim to none. I understand that this is supposed to be a zombie survival game... but survival is really really difficult at this point. I rely more on crops and bird eggs to stave off starvation now at this point, more than being able to survive on meat.
  • carrying meat with you at any point at night is a joke now. Zombies don't even notice you unless they're within 10 meters of you.
  • if you don't log out with 4 blocks of air above your head, expect to be at the highest point of whatever was above your head.
  • firearms do not need their own skill tree. I like the changes to the way items and weapons are now, without having to craft 4,000 bows... but.. common. It's hard enough finding parts for the weapons... much less having to have the skill to get a decent one. With how often zombie hordes spawn now, you almost have to have a weapon by night 15.
  • no matter where you are, your temperature is like that of a women in menopause. You may be 90F in a forest biome, and then 42F the next. Suddenly it starts raining and you're about to freeze to death, with your temperature plummeting into the teen's .... correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I've ever in the history of being alive, experienced someone get hypothermia, from being outside in the middle of summer, during a rainstorm. Furthermore, I've been to Iraq and Kuwait with temperatures soaring into the 140F. Did I die from heatstroke? No... I did have to drink a lot of extra water though. However, if your temperature in this game goes above 110, there's probably a good chance he will die from sun stroke. Getting your temperature down is no easy feat either and you can cross from a frozen biome into a desert biome and still be losing temperature. It's not until you walk inside some sort of covered shelter that the temperature gets the hint that the biome has changed.
  • careful about getting too close to the edge of some of those deep deep hole ridgeline areas that look like some sorta TV Dinner tray... falling into them can mean you falling through the map and dying instantly, with no hope of recovering your backpack.

Guys (The Fun Pimps)... real talk. Stop adding stuff to the game. Yeah I get it, everyone is going to get tired of the game if you don't release new stuff to play with it... but it's better to have a game with quality, rather than quantity. Your movement system is terrible. Running down hills breaks your legs, while jumping off the second story of a building will simply have you sighing out of breath. Animations for things like shooting a bow take forever and the main bow shooting cancel animation is terrible. The arrows aren't even in the center of the reticle. Shooting a headshot requires you to shoot at the bottom right corner of the +. Jumping in a room with the roof being low enough for you to hit your head results in a longer jump animation. Moving feels sluggish and not like realistic acceleration at all. Rain is actually a microsized blizzard that will freeze you to death.

If you need to, hire more people on the staff and start pushing more updates to fix major parts of things that you already have. A GTX 1080 should not be dipping frames at all. I shouldn't have the game sucking up over 20GB of RAM ( I have 32 ). Windows notified me in the middle of a lake the other day that I had low memory. The only things I had running were Discord, Gmail in a chrome browser, and this. Guess which one was sucking up the most memory?

Just for the love of whatever you consider holy.... fix what you have already. Don't add anything. Don't tweak anything. Fix your current core items ( Sound, movement, lighting ) and then work out from there, improving hitboxes, zombie health, aiming reticules... animal spawn rates... temperatures... on and on and so forth. I'm getting to the point where I don't want to play this anymore, and that's really sad because I haven't even explored half of what you've added to the game. The game is so glitchy now, that I feel like I need to do everything in creative mode just to survive.

</end rant>

Mechanical Parts 7daystodie

I'm working on building a workbench right now, as I've just unlocked the skill. I'm having immense trouble finding mechanical parts. On the wiki it said harvesting stuff like ovens, refrigerators, cars, etc. with the wrench would yield mechanical parts but I still have yet to get any from those things. Can anyone help a brotha out? I'm on Xbox one if you didn't see the tag

Are the resources on a map consumed as I play? 7daystodie

Hey, noobie question here. I have a concern about this game. let's say I'm playing on a single player map. Because the resources (wood, stone, etc.) are limited on that map, as I play the game, the map is kind of consumed, right? Did any of you feel like that before? Or as you salvage the furniture, refrigerator and stuff, you get less periodical loot because number of containers approach 0. right?

New idea for getting brass 7daystodie

I'm fairly new to this game (filthy console player) and have been having a ton of fun hunting/exploring/scavenging/zombie murderfying but for the life of me I'm having a hard time getting enough brass to keep my bullet count at a healthy level. I always save all the brass pieces I get from the zombies and whatnot and throw them in the forge instead of scrapping them in the backpack. Scavenging car radiators and brass fixtures are great too but there's only so many cars/houses around. That's when it hit me... AC units should give you brass radiators when disassembling with a wrench.

It's nice that they give you iron and wire but iron is everywhere and you can get plenty of wire from cars, refrigerators, stoves, computers, and cars. In real life, AC units are made of the same materials (copper) and function the same as car radiators do (cooling the liquid inside of them).

I'm not saying that every single unit should give you a radiator, but it would be nice if they dropped one as often (or slightly more often) as a car does.

Wrench won't right click scavenge 7daystodie

This is my first time playing and on about day 32. I started up the game and an hour later noticed my wrench wouldn't right click on a car, refrigerator, etc. but it would right click repair blocks. I quit and restarted but that didn't help. I made a new wrench and that didn't help. I tried developer mode on/off and that didn't help. Any ideas?

With console launch being so close, here is a bit of a guide, and what to expect with 7 Days to Die. 7daystodie

I hope you're all hyped for the console launch tonight! I figured I'd take this time to write up a semi-lengthy guide on what to expect when playing this game, for all the new players about to join our amazing community! Please feel free to add anything, ask questions, or comment. Consider this a guide and open Q&A from an avid 7 Days to Die player. I've been playing since Alpha 3, and this game has come quite a ways! It's great to see it expand to the console playerbase, and open up a whole new area of fans!

  • What is 7 Days to Die?

7 Days to Die is possibly one of the most creative games inside the zombie genera. The company The Fun Pimps seems to have hit an area inside the survival genera where most others have failed, in a sense. Allow me to use the popular title DayZ and H1Z1 as examples for this.

Now we have all seen our fair share of zombie movies I hope! Ranging from movies like 28 Days Later, to George Romeros famous series of movies (Day of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, etc), to the famous TV series The Walking Dead. The one thing all these movies highlight, is how ruthless zombies are. How they will stop at nothing to get what they are after. Clawing and smashing through houses, piling up against doors and breaking through! And every game seems to want to mimic that feeling. That fear of death. That fight of flight human instinct. And a lot of them have done a pretty great job, but they all lack one aspect that 7 Days to Die tends to hit perfectly. That aspect is, the ability to smash through the world to get at you.

In games such as DayZ and H1Z1, that fear tends to stop the second you close a door on a pre-fabricated building. They don't really tend to smash through to come and get you. Well, 7 Days to Die has that perfected. These zombies are not something to take lightly! With the entire world, including the ground, being destructible, no where is safe for you to hide. If they sense you, only fighting or running will save you.

  • So what does this game offer, besides insanely well done AI?

7 Days to Die seems to be completely focused on "play it your way". The way the game mechanics allow you to control your world, is something similar to the game Minecraft. With the entire world being destructible, you can do just about anything. Now some people LOVE to build, I for one sure do! This game allows you to be as creative as you'd like to be, with some players creating buildings such as Marios castles, the World Trade Center, pyramids, towns, and pretty much anything you'd like to!

Now what if you're not much of a builder? What if you're just not feeling that Minecraft-esque creative aspect? Well there are TONS of amazing buildings out in the world to choose from! From stores, cafes, oil plants, parking structures, gas stations, diners, and even run down shacks!. There are dozens of towns full of houses and apartment buildings. Major cities with tons of stores, movie theaters, massive apartment complexes, police stations. You name it, you can live in it!

Every single building can be fortified, remodeled, and changed to your liking. Nothing is off limits in this game. If you find a nice place to call home, you can reinforce the entire thing to steel and concrete, lay spikes around the outside and hold up inside. This game is entirely "play your way". Heck, you can even go from town to town, going nomad style and live off the land and what you find. The choice is yours! (Although, I'm a loot horder, so I could never play this way. So much loot, so much to stash away!)

  • So you talk a lot about the building and zombies, what will I have to defend myself with?

Guns, melee weapons, tools, traps, landmines, you name it! The big focus would be the guns and traps. But let me first cover melee weapons, as you're most likely going to use those when you first start out.

Melee weapons are pretty important for your average zombie dealings. Most of the time, you'll choose melee to clear out a town or building. One of the best, and rarest being the machete. This bad boy does a considerable amount of damage, and tends to decapitate zombies fairly easy. Its pretty hard to find, but when you do, it will become a go-to weapon. The sledgehammer tends to do about the same amount of damage/decapitation as the machete, but it swings a lot slower, and may be difficult for some users in tight situations. Its great for outdoors though! The most commonly used, easy to craft melee weapon, would have to be the spiked club. This tends to do a decent amount of damage, nice and quickly. Its relatively easy to craft, and easy to find. Highly suggested for the first few days of gameplay.

Traps and landmines. These badboys are what you'll be using to fortify your parameters around your home. In early game, wood spikes are going to be your BEST choice for keeping those pesky roaming zombies at bay. They are easy to craft, easy to deploy, but they break fairly easily. So long term use isn't suggested once you get established in the game. For a good solid defense, wood log spikes are the way to go! These are nice and sturdy, and upgradable. Your first tier being treebark looking, then to a more solid wooden spike, then metal tipped, metal sheeted, and finally fully reinforced metal. (So 2 tiers of wood, 3 tiers of metal). Lastly, we have our barbed wire fence. These are pretty decent to use, as they slow zombies down, but they also tend to break quite a bit. Typically you'd want to place these somewhere around your entrance, and not around your entire base as you would wood log spikes. They tend to be rather expensive, and hard to maintain.

Onto the guns! Oh guns guns and more guns! Now unlike everything else (besides the machete), these are NOT craftable. You will find various weapon parts (sometimes even full guns) as you explore the world. Most typically, inside a gun safe commonly found in most houses. These can be pretty sturdy and hard to break into early game. Now as you explore the world, you'll notice you'll find various books to make these guns, such as the ak47, sniper rifle and all the others. In order to put these gun parts together, you need to first find the book to unlock the knowledge. But once you do, you can assemble and disassemble any weapon you find, mixing and matching different grades (we'll touch up on this in a moment). So for a list of guns, we have the crossbow and bow, pistol, blunderbuss (this gun is a default one, so you can make it as soon as you find the supplies.) the shotgun and sawed off shotgun, SMG, hunting rifle, sniper rifle, 44 Magnum, AK47, and lastly, the rocket launcher.

  • What about the tools? What do we have to harvest and destroy all these buildings with?

This is probably one of the most important aspects to this game. The tools. And with this, I'll cover quality grades as well. So lets start with that before I go into tools, because it'll make more sense.

Quality grades are pretty simple. The lowest grade possible, would be 1, highest being 600. This is also done on a color scheme every 100 levels. So 1-99=Grey. 100-199=Orange. 200-299=Yellow. 300-399=Green. 400-499=Blue. 500-600=Purple. Now quality will effect a lot of things in the game. From armor and weapons, to tools you use, to even the minibike! Its obvious to state, that the better quality the item, the better it is. Higher quality guns will do more damage, higher quality armor will protect you more, and higher quality tools will harvest faster and do more damage to the world around you. You'll have a tough time getting through a gunsafe with a level 1 quality tool, but easily break through with a quality 600.

So for tools, The Fun Pimps have added something AMAZING I feel. Power tools! You have your standard run of the mill tools that you'll use the majority of your game time, so lets cover those first. When first starting out, you'll be crafting a stone axe, this won't really do that much damage/gather much when you are first starting. But the more you make, the higher your quality skill will get at making them. For higher axe tiers, we have the fireaxe and the steel fireaxe (sorry no link D: ) As you would suspect, this axe does more damage to wood based objects, then it would to metal or stone. For those types, we have items such as the iron pickaxe and steel pickaxe. Now the steel tier is a bit harder to craft when you first start out. You might get lucky and loot one, but thats up to the RNG gods. These tools are going to be your everyday gathering, and exploring tools. They'll help you enter buildings quickly, get through gun safes and metal doors faster, and gather materials efficiently to build up your home. You'll be going through them left and right, and they are very vital to the game.

Now let me cover your homestead tools. These tools are going to be your common tools you use around your base. They do various things, from upgrading and repairs, to tilling the ground for a farm, to shoveling out uneven terrain to build on. First up, we have our shovels. These are self explanatory. Used for quickly removing and gathering dirt, snow, sand, clay, basically anything soft. They also come in a stone shovel form, for early game clay gathering (you'll need a bit of this to make your first forge, and metal.) Next up, we have our garden hoes. When you use these on dirt, they will till the ground, allowing you to grow various crops on the land for food. They are more of a luxury item for established players, then a necessity like the other tools. And lastly, we have our repair tools. Now repair tools all repair at different rates. Our first and lowest, being the trusty stone axe that we'll be starting out with. This repairs/upgrades at a rate of 25% per swing. Next up, is our wrench. These will upgrade at a rate of 50% per swing. Note that this tool, can also be used to disassemble various things in the world, from refrigerators, to overs, to even the cars outside! So this is a pretty good tool to have on you when exploring for materials. Lastly, we have our claw hammer. This is the most powerful handheld repair/upgrade tool, upgrading at 100% per swing.

Now onto the fun part. The power tools! No one likes swinging a pick for hours down in the mines, now do they? Well this is going to highly appeal to you! First up, we have the auger! This badboy will chew through stone like its butter. This is an AMAZING tool for gathering, remodeling, trench digging, and making nifty bunkers. When you finally find one of these, you'll have A LOT of fun with the game. And just like our tools, the higher quality parts, the better it'll be. This takes gas to operate, so make sure you loot plenty of gas stations to keep this running! Next, we have the favorite, and no zombie game could be complete without one, the CHAINSAW!!!!!! Just like the auger, this amazing tool uses gas to operate. It will quickly do away with trees for fast gather, and just about any zombie in your path! It is really fun to use on zombies, but beware, it is a melee tool, so this means exposing yourself to damage! Lastly, we have the best upgrade/repair tool in the game, the nailgun. And yes, you can literally shoot nails at zombies if you'd like to. But this hand home repair device upgrades at an extremely quick pace. VERY quickly actually. Its great for big builds and fast upgrading.

Now do beware. When you use power tools, they are LOUD. They will attract screamer zombies to your location that'll come and check out what all the hubbub is about. So using them around your base is best left for daylight. They also tend to be pretty loud sound wise, so I suggest turning your volume down a bit before using it. Hopefully TFP will make it a bit softer for us in the future.

  • This all sounds great! But what about character progression?

Character progression in this game is really well done. We use an experience system to level, and with each level, we receive skill points to invest into better aspects of our character.

Experience: With everything you do, you'll earn experience towards a skill. So lets say I'm mining away, I'll earn skill experience towards Mining Tools. For repairs/upgrade, I'll earn exp in Construction Tools. For smashing zombies with my club, I'll get exp towards Blunt Weapons. Etc etc. Now after my skills get high enough, I'll level. Each level will grant me 5 total skill points to invest into my character. I can choose to progress those skills listed above even higher, OR I can choose to invest it into a Perk.

Perks are bonuses to certain things. Lets take the best one for early game, called Quality Joe. Quality Joe will cost me 5 skill points to upgrade once. With each upgrade, I have a better chance to find higher quality items. It'll give me a +25/50/100 quality upgrade automatically. Quicker Crafting perk, will allow me to craft items faster (10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%). Skills like Concrete Mixing, Steel Smithing, and Workbench, will unlock the ability for me to craft Concrete, Steel, and Workbenches. So be wise about where you invest your points when you level. Sometimes its best to let the natural skills progress on their own, and invest into the perks as you level up. Pick and choose wisely. Go over your options before you commit, because there is no turning back!

I think that about sums up a lot of the basics about this game. I covered what the game is about, the mechanics and concept behind the game, guns, tools, building and houses, xp and progression... I'll go ahead and write up a guide in a little bit for those just starting out. A play by play of your first few days, and what to do/avoid. I wanted to basically upsell the game a bit and fully explain some of the aspects to anyone who may still be considering purchasing this game, or those going in kinda blind.

I'd like to thank some youtubers that I linked for the great videos they've posted here on reddit in the past. All these guys are great loyal players, and if you'd like to see them in action, please head over to their channels. Thankyou Survival Buddies for the amazing Mario castles! Corion82 for your amazing WTC build. And Z-Nation FFS for your amazing build that I've personally been addicted to watching the past few days. Seriously that place is insane! And also Indie for getting overrun and slaughtered by zombies in the power plant ;)

Thankyou for taking the time to read my breakdown. If you have any questions, comments, or wish to talk more, please don't hesitate to chime in in the comments below!

Some questions on game mechanics 7daystodie

Hey guys, thanks in advance for any help. I have done some research myself on the topics and read every line of the most recent patch notes but some info is still missing for me, here's the questions.

  1. Does anything respawn on its way? Cars, refrigerators, stoves, the red tea plant, etc?
  2. If the Cars Don't respawn, is it best to leave them loot able and not break them down? My concern is the eventual depletion and rarity of engine and batteries.
  3. Blood moon on Multiplayer. We've had a few blood moons where multiple people were in multiple locations. Does the entire horde if a blood moon night just pick one player and a? Is there a way to allow at least multiple people to get attacked by hordes on a blood test? Or is this all random or based on heat?
  4. Does water have effect on growth of crops? I saw that previously, the growth of crops required water and I read that now it's not required but increases speed. What is accurate?
  5. As the days go on, does the horde or blood moon spawns get more difficult? Is it tied to day count or player level?

I'm sure there's more questions I have had, but those are what come to mind Thanks again!

Which containers are safe to store meat? 7daystodie

I don't know why I haven't been able to find answers. Are there any containers that safely hold meat without attracting zombies/dogs? I tried using a refrigerator but many dogs still came.

Suggestions 7daystodie

Put ore back in the ground, everywhere. We tried caves but it inevitably sucks. Make it so that the different ore types and distribution densities vary with depth. Caves are great, but they are so rare that they become essentially finite within the maps functional area on MP servers. This requires new players to venture out >10k in search of an unlooted cave. Lots of players cap them off at the surface to hide them as well to prevent that resource from being tapped. Creating a mine used to be an integral part of building a proper base. Make it so again.

No weather effects for buffs/debuffs. Go play The Long Dark for about 2 hours. It sucks. In a large way because of this mechanic. Just don't do it.

Increase the distance you can fall by 1.5 blocks before spraining and then breaking your leg. It's a touch on the sensitive side atm.

Remove so many gate locked items. A12 went a little overboard here. Reduce the number of books by at least half.

Add named, ultra-rares to the loot table. Give them special procs. Like higher magazine capacity, different ammunition classes, higher accuracy, higher faster rate - anything to add something interesting worth fighting over. Taza's Stone Axe was nice. Do about 10 more. This is low hanging fruit that would go a long ways.

More boss and mini-boss zombies with varying strengthes and better loot. It's okay to have mini-bosses that move a touch faster that have 3x hp. They don't have to be badass Mofo's like ferals with custom skins. Just something to add diversity now, reskin them later. Make them believable. Not just some arbitrary character in a red dress. That one is the Manager at Bornes and Noble. That one is a cashier from Shamwow. You have stuff in this game that has character. Weave it together when you can.

I really don't like the concept of upgrading blocks through all stages. Feels like a dumbing down of the building mechanic. Planning out your base, collecting materials, and having some consequence to doing it adds depth to the game. It forces you to manage your inventory, resource gathering, and most importantly - biome selection. If you want to invest more heavily in gathering stone/metal resources than the reward is there.

Get rid of trees falling on people. Annoying and pointless.

Get rid of destruction debris. This is a needless resource hog on servers that just makes it annoying to get hurt/killed by. It's also not fun to play janitor afterwards. It also removed a mining technique that allowed you to gather resources more efficiently by carefully chiseling out sections of vein.

Loot system should truly be random. No leveled loot. This kills a major playstyle (scavenging) until you grind out the levels. Forcing people to homestead until they craft. Ya know - up until now. Some people actually grouped together to make a team that enjoyed different elements of the game. Some liked to build bases. Some like to PVP. Some like to scavenge. They tend to group together and the different preferences created teamwork. You've effectively killed that here.

Focus on coding this game to support 100 players. It's nice for small groups (10 people) on a server. But it goes stale after one or two playthroughs. The depth and true survival element drawn out by competition from player enemies really shines when you have more people. I don't know why this isn't obvious. It's also where the community driven mods thrive that will expand this game into a big ticket item that will extend it's marketable shelf life. U5 is probably limited in this regard. Hopefully you'll get to at least 50 though.

Multiple, editable, shareable waypoints for friends.

Add a jewelry/special item slot for people so they can wear an identifiable colored headband, armband, or sash. I think this could happen in the character customization screen for simplicity. Hard to distinguish teammates in the wild.

New vehicle: ultralight airplanes. Just do it.

Editable placement for LCB's. Meaning when I place a land claim, I want to be able to use the directions on the numpad to shift the claimed zone in all four directions. I don't want the LCB to be in the center of the LCB range every time. It's too easy to find for raiders.

Entities (animals, zombies, minibikes) have a real big problem of falling through the map. Animals/zombies are one thing. But losing that mini-bike is really disappointing. I find myself not caring in the slightest about gathering the materials to use this element of the game because all that work will be wasted. I've had flawless bikes fall through the world in the first 3 seconds of driving it. What a cock punch. If you can't fix the code, then add a temporary routine in your inventory GUI to retrieve a bike that has fallen through the ground. I'm sure you could implement a coordinate tracker variable to the location of a minibike. If Z < 0, then enable restoration. May have to add a hard bottom to the maps below bedrock to support this..? I don't know what the server thinks of an entity that falls through the ground eventually. I assume it just deletes it eventually? Can you have it ask "is this a minibike, if so - put it back on the surface"

Label chests/gun safes as to who owns them. I don't care much from a player POV. But this would be very valueable for Admins in identifying exploiters & hackers. They are wising up to the fact that we sniff them out by starting at their claimed bases. They are using more and more unclaimed dump chests out in the wild.

Modify the max runspeed variable so that xml editing can enable an increase. Maybe 33%. Modders want to add more diverse buffs/items that affect run speed in a positive manner.

Keep the crafting grid. Just f'ing do it.

Display the debuff countdown timer for a splinted leg. It's there for when you sprain/break it, but disappears when splinted.

Make electricity happen. Copy ARK to the T for mechanics surrounding generator fueling, usage, creation, and how to connect appliances to the generator. They really nailed this.

Reskin beer. I'm scavenging beer out of a supermarket refrigerator right? Why is it in a mason jar? It should be inside of a can. If you want to include a homemade beer item, then the mason jar is fine. As it is, it doesn't make sense.

Add a disorienting camera effect class for calling on as a debuff. Basically take what you did with the motion from the previous headlamp bobbing side to side and make it callable. Want to add mods for disorienting substances (cannabis, alcohol, sickness etc).

Add elements of play - There is nothing in this game that is pointless and fun. There are no games...? It's just raw survival and crafting and shooting each other and zambies. Add models for clay pigeons or something, and the destruction class for them breaking. I want to make a mod so they can be crafted from regular clay, fired in a forge, and then thrown exactly like stones and shot by players with shotguns. Wouldn't surival in a post-apocalyptic scenario partly include entertaining yourself? Could also do Frisbees? I know on PVP servers some people go to the trouble of making race tracks and obstacle courses for mini bikes. Maybe add a checkered flag texture for a block and/or road cones to explore this further.

Customizeable flags that are viewable to everyone. Our team wants a banner. We want to hang it from our base, and plant it on the bases that we raid. I want to plant it next to the backpack of the player I just finally got my revenge on. Make it stealable. So that enemies can swipe it and plant it on other bases to create drama/feuds.

Once electricity gets implemented. Create an ability for a player to broadcast sounds. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to make your own radio broadcast tower with real-working radios with tuneable stations (or presets), pre-recorded music, or voice over a microphone? Have dozens of fairly rare cd's or cassettes in the world with music on them. Or an offshoot could be that you could make hand-held radios that could tune in within range (copy the sound mechanic) or maybe even be utilized as walky-talkies for teammates. Quality level of the components you use to make the radio tower affects the range. Feel like radio (and/or personal radios) are valued highly in every zombie survival flick out there, but is notably absent in this game.

Melee combat & chain stunning needs to be re-evaluated.

Add big lakes again. I miss the lakes that you couldn't really swim across without beer/alcohol/coffee. They were actually elements in the game you had to circumnavigate and it affected defensive techniques for base locations that added a lot of diversity to player built structures.

On that note, maybe add fishing. I hear that a lot from former minecrafters. It's just a weird mini-game that is present in a lot of these types of survival games. Heck, even Zelda had it. Doesn't have to be flashy. But it is a viable food source/farming mechanic for zombie survival and it would make a lot of people happily entertained. It's sort of like crack for some players.

Remove sliminess of a lot of the terrains/textures. Brighten everything up a bit. Game takes on a gloomy atmosphere that is just depressing to play more often that it should. Sucks the fun out of it.

Terrain is too difficult to navigate on higher amplitude server settings. Feel like the effective ranges need to be reduced or RGEN3 needs to be smoothed/improved.

Hire a PR company to manage your forums and blog to maintain a more positive atmosphere. You're too heavily invested in developing the game and some have had a tendency to lash out/respond negatively to criticism that damages the game's reputation. It also really pisses off all these people that think when you call it an Alpha, they are entitled to give you feedback as a playtester and won't be abused. Quashing the agreeable flaming fanboys is more important than silencing dissent at this stage of development.

If electricity still works in this world, then why can't I use the oven to cook food? 7daystodie

I can hear the hum of the refrigerator, the lights are still on. So why don't ovens work? Are they gas powered? Am I over thinking this?

Temporary Solution for Crafting 7daystodie

TL:DR Make all blocks drop themselves so we can use them to build

I really like trying to make cool structures in this game, and there are a ton of blocks. Unfortunately, we have a tiny fraction of the blocks available to build with. Your choices really are wood, red wood, concrete, cobble, and iron. There are blocks with carpet on them, or that are brick on the outside and wallpaper on the inside that are not available to us (outside of creative of course) to craft.

Until a recipe is figured out for these blocks it would be nice if the blocks would drop as themselves first. Then those who wanted just crafting materials can break them down in the crafting menu, and those who wanted building materials could move them elsewhere.

Some of the things not available: toilets, refrigerator tops (the bottoms are craftable for some reason), brass lanterns, sinks, large tv's, etc. These add a lot more for the detail oriented builder. A house without a bathroom/toilet really bothers me for some reason XD

This would give a little more end game also until a real solution for both endgame and crafting are found.

Help with bedrock prefab identification. 7daystodie

So I happened upon a prefab I hadn't seen before while wandering around, and was hoping someone could give some insight as to what it's supposed to be.

From the outside, it looks like a large concrete building with a mailbox out front and a couple of cars parked outside. Inside, there is a sort of eating/living area with a couple of refrigerators and cupboards. Down some stairs, there's a pill cupboard and medicine cabinet, as well as a long hallway that ends in a couple of bookshelves.
The strangest feature is that there is an outdoor patio-type area, with a walkway that overlooks several bedrock chambers filled with different types of zombies. There are also a couple of rooms behind hard metal locked doors. One of the rooms contains a gun safe and munitions box, while the other contains a fridge, desk, and a chest labeled "developerchest".

Can anyone enlighten me as to what this place is?

Game Lore & Background 7daystodie

Is there any background or lore to the game? I've always wondered what happened to get us to this place.

My guess is that the infection happened AFTER a war of sorts. Every building you go into is boarded up and locked, many places appear like they were trying to make them defensible (e.g. high school in Navezgane), and every "dead corpse" has a chance of junk, ammo, and gun parts. Were they fighting zombies, or each other? Electricity is working (lights, refrigerators, business signs), plumbing works, and someone is coordinating airdrops. Every business has the appearance of already being looted and what's left behind is what we find.

In addition, there's something crazy going on with the locale. Loot respawns, trees and plants grow at uncanny rates, and we reappear at the last place we slept when we "die". Oh, and the zombies have a hive mind. This leads to something more than a mere infection.

I want the Pimps to focus on gameplay first, but I am very excited to see where they take the story once that's all ironed out.

Question thread for TFP 7daystodie

General A12 Questions

  1. Will the bears have zombie like AI where they try to tear down structures? cause i would totally love to bait a bear into a cage, then open said cage to unleash my attack bear on the zombie hordes..... i could amass a bear army.....
  2. Can we eat the bears? If not what purpose do they serve other than just a hazard?
  3. is there going to be a "winter jacket" made from the bears hides to help us live in snow biomes?
  4. Will Winter biomes adversely affect the Zeds as well? its kind of hard to continue motion if you are frozen solid....
  5. you say that we will be able to flashlight mod all firearms other than the blunderbuss: does this include the crossbow and or bow?

General QoL Improvement requests

can you please remove the broken legs mechanic from the game until it is working properly? it is extremely frustrating to have my leg unfairly broken two to four times a day.

The ways i have broken my leg so far in A11.

  1. Jumping on my friends back, who is standing next to me. the act of sliding off of his back resulted in a broken leg.
  2. Holding the jump button too long, and landing on the same surface i've jumped from
  3. Jumping in/out of that crappy part where Dirt meets Bridge metal
  4. Placing a sleepingbag under my feet
  5. Placing a sleeping bag under my friends feet
  6. being tapped by a Z with full hp.
  7. Stepping off of a pebble.
  8. jumping on a couch
  9. jumping on a bed
  10. jumping on practically anything.

Can you please re-balance the Bleeding & Stunned Mechanics

  1. Make it so that the bleeding threshold is set to not activate if player is over 60% Hp.it makes no sense that i should "Bleed out" from a crawler tap, especially when i am in full iron armor, that didnt even visibly dent my fully buffed HP Bar.
  2. Stunned should have a much lower chance of occurring with certain helmets, such as iron, Kevlar, and Mining.

Can you please Work in a mechanic in which i can allow cornbread to become moldy bread

  1. Add a timer to Certian perishable items, in which they slowly degrade into a rotten form, unless preserved within a jar, or stored within a storage chest (or refrigerator)

Idea Suggestions

Item Recipie Found Function
Cell Phone None Corpses, Cars, Nightstands Used for Scrap iron, or in remote Detonator recipe
Duct Tape None Workingstiffs crates, Boxes, Cars Used to create Certain tools.
Remote Detonator CellPhone, Powder Charge, Duct Tape Not Found Used in remote detonated Explosives
Detonator Switch Cellphone Not Found Detonates Explosives in one of two ways (Right Click) the explosive your reticle is most closely aimed at (Left Click) the first explosive you placed.
Rotten Meat Traps Glass Jar, Rotten Meat, Powder Charge X2,Remote Detonator Not Found Rotten meat traps are a thrown explosive. when thrown, any zombies near the impact point are drawn towards the rotting meat. upon using a detonator switch, the explosive would boom, and kill the nearby zombies. this weapon is particularly effective on dogs.
Crude Spear Sticks X3, Plant Fibers, Bone Shiv Not Found A weak melee weapon that has a longer than normal reach. deals minimal damage on non head strikes.
Makeshift Spear Sticks X3, Duct Tape, Hunting Knife not found A make shift weapon that has longer than normal reach, deals minimal damage on non-head strikes
Spear Iron Pipe X3, Leather Strips X4, Iron Ingot Not Found A well crafted weapon that has longer than normal reach. particularly effective when striking the targets head.
Crude Sword Scrap IronX2, Wood Planks, Leather Strips Not found low chance of causing bleeding.
Makeshift Sword Forged Iron X3, Wood Planks, Leather Strips not found medium chance of causing bleeding
Sword Iron Ingots X3, Wood planks, Leather strips Not found High Chance of causing bleeding.
Crude Shield Wood PlanksX3, Plant fibers X3 Not found A crude shield- can be used to block incoming attacks to a degree
Makeshift ShieldWood Planks X3, Forged Iron X3, leather Strips X3 Not Found can be used to block incoming attacks to a degree
Shield Wood Planks X3, Iron Ingots X3, Leather strips X3 Not Found Can be used to block incoming attacks to a degree
Riot Shield Not Crafted Found in Police stations Can be used to block attacks to a degree- Does not obstruct view

Shields are intended to be used with one handed items like the club, knife, pistol, and sword. Shields have varying levels of effectiveness that will mitigate damage when the shield is drawn, and held up. All shields other than the riot shield, obstruct a large portion of the players view in First person mode.

Shield Attacks it can block
Crude Shield Weak zombie attacks- blocks 25% of damage.
Makeshift Shield Zombie attacks
Shield Non rifle rounds- Blocks 20% of fire arm damage. All Zombie attacks other than cops- Blocks 75% of damage
Riot Shield Reduces all melee attacks by 80%, Reduces all projectile damage by 50%

the blocking effect only works when the shield button is pressed, and the attack comes from the front.

When equipping the shield, it will replace any right click functions of that 1 handed weapon, you cant block and attack simultaneously.

Collectible furniture 7daystodie

Can anyone provide a list or a link to a list of collectible furniture?

Such as the refrigerator or the sink tap.

I Googled it but couldn't find anything! Are steel shelves collectible?

Thanks in advance

So we all know that bookshelves, cabinets, refrigerators, medicine chests, gun safes, etc.. all respawn items if emptied. But what about these containers that you build yourself? 7daystodie

I'm about to start on my main base, and, if these various containers do indeed respawn according items, I'll build a number of each of those that I can.
