My husband and teenage sons (AKA all the people who "watch the baby for a second") went hunting so I'm flying solo. (That's what we decided to call it, right?)
My almost 2 year old has become deathly scared of sleep. His crib causes meltdowns. And he's figured out how to escape it. Even if I get him to fall asleep and sneak him into his crib, he wakes up at 1 AM and screams for hours. He has all the classic symptoms: freaking out at bedtime, begging and negotiating for one more thing before bedtime (or going back to sleep), clingy, fussy, but happy during the day.
The only way I can get him to nap is to drive him around, so now I'm sitting in the driveway. I put all the birthdays and school holidays on the 2015 calendar. I swept the garage out.
I have a whole list of things to do, but am having a hard time figuring out how to do it while sleep deprived and with a two year old under foot. I have to do laundry so when the boys get home we don't have to fight over the washing machine. I have to clean out the refrigerator and freezer so that when they bring the ducks they shot home we have a place for them. My new year resolution is to get a plan for finances. YouNeedABudget looks awesome, but I haven't had 30 minutes to myself to put together a budget.
I'm not even going to attempt clothes shopping (gotta find something to hide my growing bump). I was hoping to clean out my closet to make room for fake maternity clothes. I'd love to pack up my two year old's clothes that don't fit. The house desperately needs vacuuming/sweeping/cleaning after the Christmas break (who am I kidding? The big kids cleaned before they left. The mess is all mine.)
In the mean time, I think the little guy has watched more TV in the last 5 days than in the last 5 months, even though running around would probably help with sleep.
A week with a two year old shouldn't be too hard, right? The last 4 days I spent on "vacation" but I'm beginning to feel lazy. How do you ladies do this? Or does everybody else just say "fuck it" and wait for your +1 to get home.
