It's 5am. I can't get drunk (trying though), and can't sleep til I do. I gotta go see my wife's grandmother in 4 hours, and be social with her family. cripplingalcoholism

I drank all the liquor from the freezer, and have 3 beers in the refrigerator. Thought I had more liquor in the fridge. Nope. No liquor sales on Sunday either.

FUck me. I every part of me wants to check the freezer, again. I've checked it a few times already, just to be sure there's no more liquor. There isnt.

Figure I'll drink beer til Monday morning and not sleep til then.

Ps. First post here. Hi fuckers.

Country club malt liquor and not hanging out with people who are total losers. cripplingalcoholism

Sorry I havent shitposted in awhile... hopefully this will make up for it. Moved back up to Akron, OH last month from sunny Raleigh, NC because im a dumbass. I used to let friends crash on my couch when I had an apartment on the west side of this depressing ass city. Its kinda nice when you come back up and youve got 2 friends who are willing to let you put your feet up for the summer rent free. My best friend Chris, hippie... used to traffic narcotics with the guy for easy money. Real cool dude. My buddy D, knocked up this hit ass bitch that tried to screw me on a couple occasions. So hit that i wouldnt even put my dick inside her and thats saying alot because id put my dick inside of almost anything. Chris is crashing at some bum ass apartment with no refrigerator to keep my beer cold and as is murica' D has a 6 month old baby girl living in a really nice 2br section 8 apartment selling heroin. He and "slagathor" as i call her's kid is really cute though. So ive been crashing at D's for the past month doing dope for free and basically doing nothing with my life other than doing heroin, drinking, playing Civ 4 and watching him and slagathor bitching at each other. So i basically went an entire month doing dope every fucking day and started waking up feeling like ass before i put some dope up my nose because im pretty stupid but not stupid enough to shoot that shit. Shit ive been typing for awhile and itd probably take me awhile to type the rest but im not gonna. But its a shitpost, what do you expect? Im drinking country club brand malt liquor and everything is pretty fucking peachy. Chairs fuckers.

Does boxed wine go bad? cripplingalcoholism

I had about half a 5-liter box of wine in my refrigerator, someone who I did not want to see it was coming over so I stashed it in a cupboard. That was about 3-4 months ago and I just remembered and found it. The box says fresh taste six weeks after opening but nothing about whether that depends on refrigeration or if it ever spoils. This is Franzia for which I paid about $13 when it was a full box so clearly I was never expecting the best-tasting wine possible but I have other stuff to drink. Will this be fine especially after chilled again or likely to cause AIDS?

Big things happenin. cripplingalcoholism

So I'll start this out with a stupid story from about 6 years ago. When I was 19 20 years old I skipped town dropped my career and made for Colorado with some close friends. I had an idea that I wanted to try to get into forestry fire fighting... Yadda yadda yadda I drank to much couldn't find a job to get my feet under me y'know. One thanksgiving we had a bunch of folks over and I couldn't even afford to get myself drunk at that point but people brought tons of booze over so I was more than stoked to drink all this booze, anyway I was in the kitchen chatting with some folks about God knows what and suddenly there is flames coming out of the oven and the house filling with smoke, of course in my drunken apathetic state I pointed at it and said "hey y'all ovens on fire" couple people started freaking out and put out the fire all the while I was just standing there leaning against the refrigerator drinking whiskey watching with out a care, after the flames subside my friend turns to me red faced and pissed and says "What the fuck potatoe arent you supposed to be trying to get into fire fighting?" I smiled real big with drunken stupid grin and said "Hell yeah look comfortable I was around that fire" .... Fast forward to present day. My boss is pretty high up in our local volunteer fire dept and dragged me into the dept, couple Saturday mornings a month talking about fire and big trucks isn't so bad. My boss is also a CA if ever seen one so when I show up to the meeting reeking of booze nobody bats an eye. Now here entails the "big things" I'm a pretty big fella, been working for as long I can remember, so ive managed to keep quite a bit of muscle on myself despite the bottle. Now due to my size and work ethic my boss and the fire chief have been trying to get me to step up and get into school to get certified as a REAL MOTHER FUCKER'N FORESTRY FIRE FIGHTER, you might think the answer is obvious here fuck'n do it stupid dry out and fulfill your fuck'n childhood dreams, well its not that easy as you all know. It's painful either path take, I've already signed the nuptials with this bottle and can't make through the morning without a drink how am I going to stop a forest fire? I love/need the bottle its been my only truely loyal friend but there is days that I yearn for more than just the drink and a mediocre job. So here lies the trials and tribulations of being a potatoe king.

My First Drink. cripplingalcoholism

Well, technically, it wasn't my very first drink, but it was the drink that sealed my fate as a CA. I had a few beers before this drink, but they usually always put me right to sleep. I drank occasionally, but it was more like rarely. I had no real interest in drinking until this one drink.

I had been involved in a very toxic relationship with a man who was verbally and physically abusive. I was nineteen, he was twenty four. I grew up in a very emotionally dysfunctional home but it wasn't a physically abusive one. I think much of the attraction that I had for this man was because of self-esteem issues I had due to the emotional dysfunction of my parents during my childhood, but I take full responsibility in the role I played in this relationship regardless.

He had a son from a previous marriage and he needed help with him and I needed a new place to stay so we moved in together as a way to conserve money and "help" each other out. My parents were fairly well off and I had told him that I'd help him out all I could. Looking back, I'm pretty sure he was under the impression that my parents would help him out too. That didn't happen and I guess he became resentful.

The abuse began while we were still living together but I didn't recognize it as I'd never experience physical abuse before. He would start fights and arguments over the littlest things and things always got blown out of proportion. Nevertheless, we became engaged. He could be a charming, lovable man one day and an absolute monster the next. He would buy me little monthly anniversary presents one day and the next, be screaming at me because he "imagined" he saw me riding around with a friend of his in some car. Go figure. Dumb me was clueless about this but I thought I loved him and he said he loved me too.

I was involved in a car accident (I was sober at the time), totaled my car, and the insurance settlement paid us about $2000. We had money all of a sudden so naturally what's the next thing to do? Get married! Big mistake.

I mentioned that he had a son from a previous marriage. The sweetest boy I've ever met (other than my own son.) This man would smack him and leave the most horrendous bruises on his body. I would cringe whenever I heard it happening. I wanted to call CPS but he threatened me that if I ever said anything he would kill me. I believed him.

We took the child to a nanny every day so we could go to work. I took the nanny aside one day and told her about the abuse and asked her to call CPS. She did and they came over, saw the bruises on the child, and said everything was okay, and left. I was speechless. I should have said something but I wasn't well. I was sick and in a sick relationship. That relationship would have to be another story altogether. I understand why I didn't do what I was supposed to but I don't excuse myself and still regret it to this day.

Anyway, so we got married and the abuse continued. There was often hitting and the usual knocking around to go along with the yelling and one day, things went sideways. It was about a year and half into our marriage and the little boy was about four and in the bathroom taking a bath at the time, so he heard (as usual) everything that went on. It was over a bill, I remember, that needed to be paid. We were in the kitchen. This man went ballistic. He said "I thought you told me you could help me out when we moved in together?" I said, "I thought I was. I try to help out whenever I can with little son." He proceeded to tear things off the wall and throw kitchen appliances at me. I told him that I was going to to call the police. When this next thing happened, it became crystal clear to me that I had gotten myself into a totally insane situation. He said "Go ahead and call", and handed me the phone. The things that got to me was that he really didn't think I would. I knew I was in trouble then. I quickly called 911 and grabbed the phone from me and hit me with it. He strangled me and threw me across and slammed me against the wall. We ended up in the living room where I kicked him across the coffee table. The 911 call had gone through and they had located us. The police were there, thank goodness.

The police kept him under control while I was able to gather up a few things but I couldn't find my keys. He had hidden them from me. I had an extra set though. I told the police there was a little boy in the bathroom and to please make sure he was okay. They said they would. As I was grabbing things I thought I would need, I opened the refrigerator and saw the bottle of vodka that had been in there for months. I remember saying to myself "I need this more than he does right now."

It was about 10:00 at night when I left. I called a close friend of mine in another town and cried to her and asked her if I could spend the night and of course, she let me. I remember later that night, being alone in the bathroom with my vodka, taking the first drink. Things suddenly became...warm and...better. As I looked at my bruised face and neck in the mirror, suddenly things were alright. I was free from that asshole and I felt GOOD. I continued to drink until I was able to sleep. I had a peaceful, dreamless sleep.

And so it began. Alcohol became the answer to all of my problems. The big ones and the little ones. It became the accompaniment to the good times as well as the bad. If I had an uncomfortable memory or feeling, I just had a drink. If things didn't go well that day, I had a drink. If I felt bad, I had a drink. If I felt happy, I had a drink.

I slowly became a CA.

I would love to hear stories (comments or posts) from others about when you first began drinking...

TLDR: Was in an abusive relationship and started drinking.

Edit: After I left, I tried to help the little boy but since I was had no family relationship to him, I was couldn't do a thing. I believed in God at the time and I prayed for him. If there's a God out there, I hope He took care of him. I've tried to look him up but cannot find him.

A conversation with my son. cripplingalcoholism

Some of you may know, yesterday my son and his fiancee' moved in with my Dad. Makes perfect sense, their apartment was 800 a month. They are trying to save money for their future and a down payment on a house.

They are paying him rent and utilities, so this is not a free ride kinda deal. My son really does have his shit together. 2 year degree, works for a stable company, pays his own way. Hell, he's 24 years old and has a goddamn TD Ameritrade account. Dude has stable stocks and is investing for his retirement.

Anyway, after we dropped the truck off, the last thing we needed to get was the stuff out of his refrigerator. Which we did, and headed back to Dad's.

He had a bottle of Fireball and 2 Jameson's that he put in Dad's freezer. And after a long day, he poured himself a decent amount of Jameson.

And the look in his eyes after taking that drink concerned me. I know that look all too well. Contentment. I think there are only three people or so on here that know what he looks like. He has the longest, blackest eyelashes that I've ever seen, and dark beautiful brown eyes. (I'm biased, I know).

So I asked him to come out on the deck with me. I lit up a smoke, and told him to be careful. I told him at his age, I was drinking responsibly just like he is. But it can catch up with you, and have you by the balls before you know it. He already has hereditary alcoholism in his genes, (I truly believe that is a thing, the hereditary factor). He assured me that he doesn't drink everyday, but I've heard some stories from his fiancee' where he's known to get shitfaced on the weekend. And they Uber home.

I don't want this for my son. I think he listened to me, and it hit home. He's not stupid, he's knows I'm an alcoholic that is struggling to get it under control.

Yesterday is when I realized I have been afflicted with crippling alcoholism cripplingalcoholism

Enter me, a young man on the cusp of achieving greatness and success both academically and socially.

Enter drunk me, a young man on the cusp of vomiting all over himself and spewing verbal diarrhea on any and every unfortunate citizen who crosses his path.

It was yesterday that I finally realized that I am indeed, a CA.

When I was younger I stuck to pot, opiates and psychedelics. When I was younger I had money to buy the aforementioned substances.

Now I am older, without a job and able to actually buy alcohol.

I digress, onto my story:

It was a typical Saturday morning for me, I woke up next to a girl I don't deserve to be with on a blowup mattress that smelled like mold and semen - in a basement that you guessed it, happened to be owned by my parents.

I collected myself and stumbled out of the tiny corner in which I called home and over to my half-functional refrigerator in said basement to find 3/4 of a handle of Vladimir brand vodka; that was the only thing in said refrigerator.

I threw on my deceiving suburban-white-boy-with-his-shit-together outfit. Which happened to be a pair of khakis, leather wing-tipped shoes and a nice collared shirt and headed out to a family function with the girl of both my wildest dreams and crippling nightmares.

I mingled with family and friends, convincing them all that I did have my shit together - when in reality, if you couldn't already tell from what I've written above is absolutely not the case at all.

I went home, and it was about 3:30 in the afternoon.

I happened to have been thrown a dimebag from a cool cousin of mine and proceeded to smoke it all in about 5 whole minutes, completely unaware that this marijuana was probably medical grade.

I figured: Why, not have a drink? It's Saturday after all! This was the worst mistake I could have possibly made, four vodka and Redbulls later, my as intended quiet afternoon had turned into a one man bacchanal in my basement - in which I consumed the rest of that handle of disgusting Vladimir vodka in just under an hour and a half.

Now if I was just drunk, I would've been able to handle it a lot better - but the pot of course paralyzed me to no end, and once all the alcohol was metabolized I had reached a plateau of drunkenness that I never had the pleasure of reaching.

I had reached the cerebral palsy level of drunk, and thought I was going to die there on that blowup mattress while Led Zeppelin II blared over my stereo.

I don't remember anything after that, I woke up 4 hours later to a livid girlfriend screaming at me to get myself together.

I opened my eyes, and smelt something awful. I looked down to see myself covered in vomit, my pants soiled with both feces and urine, and my head feeling like I had just been beaten half to death with a crowbar.

Now for most of you in the subreddit, this is a typical day. The reason why I know this wasn't just a one-off party day is because unlike a normal person who would stay away from the sauce for a while, I went out and bought another handle of Vladimir vodka and did it all over again today.

I don't know what to do.

Fuck me sideways I have to clean up someone else's piss cripplingalcoholism

My fucking useless roommate decided to wake up from a six beer induced sleep and piss in the refrigerator. So after he stumbles upstairs I get left to scrub out the fucking refrigerator and the floor. AFTER my mother and I cleaned the whole fucking apartment today. I put a fucking hole in the wall because I didn't want to get arrested for beating my best friend to a pulp.

Sleepwalking while drunk? cripplingalcoholism

I'm currently living with my dad while finishing up college. On nights when I drink more than usual, sometimes some unusual things happen. For example, on my 21st birthday I got absolutely wrecked and when my dad came back, my pants were soaked in piss and stored in the refrigerator. A few weeks ago, I suddenly came back to consciousness inside his bathroom at 2AM with no idea why I was there.

My dad told me that when I was younger, like 5-10 yrs old I would sleep walk a bit, but ever since then I had no signs of it. Is it possible that my getting super drunk brings it back, or is it just me getting black out drunk that's causing it? I've gotten blackout drunk before and didn't do anything retarded like that, so I'm not sure.

Anyone else have experience with sleepwalking?

Merry Christmas! cripplingalcoholism

Since I was a little kid, I have sleep walked. It is more frequent when I am under stress, or of course, drunk as skunk. Last night, at some point, I emptied the refrigerator of today's Christmas banquet, and scattered it around the kitchen. Threw some of it away. I ruined Christmas. 100%. This isn't a great story, I know, but felt I had to tell somebody. I want to kill myself, but won't, because I can't do anything right.
