Kenmore refrigerator model 795.76203.901 appliancerepair

The door on this refrigerator has not been shutting properly; it's scraping at the bottom. Had a tech from Sears come out. He told me it would cost $250 for him to repair the door, or he could give me the part number for the required part and I could do it myself. It seemed straightforward enough, but I wonder if he gave me the wrong part number. The part turns out to be a millimeter-thick metal washer. The tech told me to take off the door and put the washer around the axle (I'm sure that's not the right term, sorry) with a little vaseline and then replace the door. If that wasn't enough to stop the problem, put in two washers. Is a metal washer (or two) really going to fix this? I guess I was expecting something larger (and probably plastic). I really don't want to have to pay again to have another tech come out. Help?
